Weis listens to NFL mentors
After the season, two dynamics off the field changed for Notre Dame. First, Charlie Weis hired former Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta to be his assistant head coach in charge of the defense. Tenuta, whose Georgia Tech unit was known for being blitz-happy (the Yellow Jackets sacked Notre Dame quarterbacks nine times in the 2007 season opener), will work with defensive coordinator Corwin Brown. Weis also removed himself from play-calling on offense, handing that responsibility to offensive coordinator Mike Haywood. It's a move Weis had been thinking about, but feared doing last year because he knew his team would struggle and he didn't want to hang any assistants out to dry as scapegoats. Weis made the move after consulting with Bill Belichick and Andy Reid, both successful NFL coaches who yielded play calling to assistants in order to become more involved with the entire team. That is Weis' goal - to become more involved with the entire program rather than being so heavily geared toward the offense. Weis called it "cutting the umbilical cord."

The team like suks, big time. All of this gipper stuff. Rudy tooty....who cares. You either win or you lose. Do not give excuses. I run the offense...great. So score some points. Go ahead....and let's win some games. But....NO.

No Charlie ... don't listen to them ... the media needs your team to tank for at least one more year to generate more stories ...

If the article talks about what Weis is doing to improve the team, you bash the idea, you call him names. If the article talks about someone leaving the program, you give your reasons why, and again, you bash Charlie Weis. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior - all the ND bashers out there, show us that your IQ is higher than 40(at that level you are considered an idiot) and write something creative, constructive or at least objective.
For the post, I think this will be difficult to attribute the effect of the move solely to the fact that the umbilical cord has been cut. The O-line is more mature, there are new coordinators in play and the new defense assistant from Gtech, are all factors that will hopefully improve the bottom line.

Give him credit for making changes. A lot of guys would not/ could not because of ego. Belichick was a bust in Cleveland, but he learned from his mistakes. ( Just one example)...It is the coach who will not change that you wonder about.

"Charlie needs to eat another sandwich"..."Fat Charlie ate his whole team"..."Notre Dame sucks"..."Rudy sucks", etc... All of the Notre Dame haters need to start getting some original material. Every time fannation.com posts a snippet about Notre Dame, from another news outlet, we hear the same old tired responses. If it makes you feel better about yourself keep posting but it's not going to change the minds of the hundreds of thousands of people in this country that love the school and the football team. Get over it.

so - where are the sub 40 IQ's today? Are they not awake yet? Or are they taking reading classes and figured out they had nothing intelligent to offer today and smartly(unlikely) decided to remain quiet???

I have an IQ of 155 and Weis Sucks ****. 3-9: anyone with an IQ will tell you that is not good. His only good season was with Willingham's players.

While I doubt on the 155, the same Willingham players were 6-5 the year prior to Weis' arrival. So what, they're like wine and they just improved with age, for no reason? The fact is, now the players are his, the coaching staff is in place, the team has matured and Michigan bashers should be busy trying to figure out the year they might have to endure.

Yeah but remember I told you that ND was ranked 46 last year ending on Sportsline and you think everything sucks...it probably sucked that Michiiiigan was only ranked 33. And with a "good" record...somebody knows something is good in ND land.

If RR goes 3-9, he will be fired, As for ND being ranked 46, that is ridiculous, that just discredits that ranking system. All your above 40 IQ helps you with is making excuses for Weis

At some point it's completely fair to criticize Weis for his lack of player development. He brings in outstanding recruiting classes every year but it seems like they get worse every year. The Charlie's fat nonsense is annoying, but so is completely ignoring the fact he's failed to live up to expectations thus far.
His contract and his position demand he perform much better than he has so far. If not, I'd like to see him gone.

RR has embarassed you enough, don't think he can do worse with the football program. Can he spell contract? I hope Michigan didn't sign one with him since he doesn't seem to understand the value of a legal document.

I agree...but i'm sure there are a lot of other influences that have motivated this restructuring of his coaching duties...if ND has another season like the previous one, his **** is grass (and that's a lot of grass)

I agree with you prisonmatt, and to top it off, even when he went 9-3 and 10-3, his players seemed ill prepared...they only kicked things in the 2nd half. That is the problem he needs to fix. If he fails this year, he deserved to be let go. But let's give him the season and see how it plays out.

Not re Dame won 3 games last year and was torched by Michigan. They finished last in the nation in total offense under the so called guru Weis. The guy is overrated and acts like a jerk on top of that.
ND fans have their irish glasses on already and they are in for a big disappointment. I say 6 or 7 wins tops. Pretty weak schedule too.
