Joba Chamberlain threw 45 pitches on Thursday in his third bullpen session this week. He plans to pitch to hitters before Saturday's game and said it was realistic to think he could pitch for the Yankees in relief next week. "There's light," said Chamberlain, who has missed more than four weeks with a rotator cuff injury. "It's peeking through. But you learn to be patient."

Beter be patient and work him in slow.. I would start as a setup and then work up. He is a solid pitcher who can be an injury career guy if they are not careful.

Joba is needed but he is clearly a huge part of the future.. at this point.. go slow. I agree DRJ. Start as a setup or closer and build the innings to a starter.

And probably over use him right back to the DL.

Snatch the pebble from my hand Grasshopper......

August 29, 2008  09:46 AM ET

It is not a matter of need or not, If he is healthy he should pitch, he needs as much experience as he can get.
The Yankees have not been overusing him.

I LOVE THE YANKEES

August 29, 2008  09:56 AM ET

Yankees are hanging on a thread but the key is they are still hanging. It sure ain't gonna get any easier. They have no chemistry at all. I think Paul O'Neill should come back as an inspirational leader and donkey punch a couple of them.

Bingo! Just keep him around the dugout and have him beat some coolers up when someone else strikes out, it will scare the hell out of them, that will inspire them...

Welcome back JOBA.. just in time for our rise to the top of the standings...

Boston is about to lose another player as well... wooooo hooooo

August 29, 2008  12:52 PM ET

bullpen....rotation....bullpen. Do the Yankees have any damn clue on what they are doing to this kid. He hurt his fat arm because the Yankees are doing something you should never do in the middle of a season with a young pitcher. Now they are moving him back to the bullpen?? They are going to **** this kid up and then wonder what happened and have that stupid look on their faces like they don't have a clue

Joba the Hut save princess A-rod

August 29, 2008  01:08 PM ET

never has a more unproven player gotten more press time than this guy!!! The Yankees are out of it folks. They should shelf him and wait until next year after they attempt to buy their way back into the playoffs like the always do.

BaseballFever

Yeah, they do, he is a starter and they are trying to limit his innings. I have yet to see a qualigfied medical opinion that says that he got tendonitis from the switch in roles.

Joba will return to the beginning of Fly Season.
