Report: Phils trade for Jays' Stairs
On the heels of a crushing 6-4 loss tonight in Chicago, the Phillies reportedly have added a left-handed hitter to their bench by acquiring veteran Matt Stairs in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays. The deal, first reported by Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com and citing "major-league sources," would involve the Phillies sending a prospect to the Jays. Stairs, 40, was designated for assignment Thursday by Toronto. A Phillies spokesman was unable to confirm the rumor early this morning.

I believe the Phils will be team 11 for Matt Stairs. He's a pro hitter and even at 40 can smack a ball a long way. He'll be missed in Toronto, he was a classy guy.

I agree. He still has solid bat swing and at 40 pretty solid. I am always surprised at how many teams he has played for becuase he does produce and so many players even young right now struggle.

Back to Back bad 8th innings for the Sillies......I think they may have caught the same bullpen disease the Mets have been suffering with.

unless Stairs has rediscovered a fastball that will help him go 8 innings each start, this was a dumb move. He's Geoff Jenkins from the left side. Wait....scratch that.
