MLS denies blocking Red Bulls
In the wake of my report on the Red Bull's quest to sign Mac Kandji and the league's role in preventing the signing from happening, both MLS deputy commissioner Ivan Gazidis and Red Bulls sporting director Jeff Agoos have come out and denied that the league has prevented the Red Bulls from making any acquisitions. "MILS works closely with the Red Bulls on player negotiations and, contrary to reports, has not blocked any move for any player involving the Red Bulls," Gazidis told SBI in an e-mail response. Shortly after Gazidis' denial came a denial from Agoos, who reached out to SBI to offer up his own denial.

Is that a picture of Agoos or a Geico Caveman ad? The tagline should read "Signing a player for an MLS team? So easy even Agoos can do it" ...or not.

Too bas he doesn't still have the long hair!
More of these aracane MLS rules. On the one hand, I understand how they are trying to build slowly, keep things under control, not repeat mistakes of NASL; but it's so confusing and limiting.

i figure as long as the teams fit under the cap, i feel the teams can throw as much money as they are willing to... the Redbulls clearly have the 200k to throw at the transfer fee, not even mentioning the money they received by Jozy's transfer....
MLS should keep their hand solid on the league, but let the teams act as single entities within the league... let they decide what they are going to pay players (so long as it fits the cap) and what players they sign all together
