Forsberg out until Christmas

Peter Forsberg, the Avalanche's only remaining unsigned free agent, still is attempting to solve the foot problem that has been the root of his health troubles in recent seasons. "Peter still has this foot issue," Don Baizley, Forsberg's agent, said Wednesday. "He has to have that resolved before anything is going to develop on that front. There's nothing new on that score at the moment. "Peter has done some skating and he wants to play, but only if the foot is right." Swedish newspaper Expressen reported earlier this summer that Forsberg would need several months of rehabilitation for a chance to salvage his NHL career. The newspaper quoted Forsberg, 35, as saying he probably wouldn't be available to play before Christmas.

Now comes the barage of Forsberg stories. he needs to retire now before he screws his legacy up anymore. I dont even care for the Forsberg stories anymore and I used to be a big fan of his.

Forsberg is the new Lindros. His head is like a peach touch it and he gets a concussion Forsberg can't handle a stiff wind without some limb going numb. Retire you goon , retire before you become a friggin laughing stock.

August 29, 2008  12:16 PM ET

I would like him on my team.

Yoda,
Have you found a secret way disrupt the threads? Every time you post, the rest of the page freezes up but maybe that's just on the Sundin stories LOL. Maybe Sundin means the Christmas season, too. How lucky are we today to get a Sundin AND a Forsberg story??? Can Niedermayer be far behind??? I'm going to go buy a lottery ticket that is a combo of their 3 numbers. I may have to wait until Christmas to collect my winnings though.

Why? He is often injured but when he plays he's a point-per-game player.

I would like him on my team.

A healthy PF, absolutely. But in this age of the salary cap, a player that fragile is too much of a risk to sign for the money he would want.

You guys should be ashamed of yourself.

A player in Forsberg calibre, is one of the biggest reasons I follow hockey at all,.

A true hockeyfan would support Forsberg.. He doesnt do it for money, he already has all the money he could ever spend. He wants to play, because he loves the game more than anything in this world, and If a player still wants to do what he loves to do, should he not be allowed to do that? He is after all still one of the best in the league when he suits up.

I agree that the stories with Forsberg is endless, but then again.. it's not his fault, it's the media. and the Media knows that the name Forsberg will bring a bigger crowd then most of the other players, therefor they write anything they can get their hands on about him.
