As the Redskins prepare to kick off the NFL's regular season next week against the Giants, longtime starting right tackle Jon Jansen could lose his job. After a shaky preseason in which he struggled in pass protection, Jansen, the senior member of Washington's offensive line, and second-year tackle Stephon Heyer are battling for a spot on the first-team offense.

August 30, 2008  11:12 AM ET

I think he's reading the story about the Chad Eighty Five name change.

August 30, 2008  11:13 AM ET

Hmmmmm.....Cut John Jansen, or wait until he gets injured by week 2?? Decisions, decisions

Opening day, 5 days away, two long time, NFC east, blue collar rivals, slugging it out , blood and guts style in the meadowlands of NJ, to kick off the new season.

August 30, 2008  11:32 AM ET

He looks like Wes Studi, the actor who played Magua in the movie "The Last of the Mohicans".

August 30, 2008  11:35 AM ET

Lady's Coach Belicat ..OMG, you are right. It is Magua....And the irony of coaching the REekins...The circle is complete....You, my dear, are a genius...I am writing your name in this November..

Thanks 50 but please, don't waste your write-in vote on me. Personally, my write-ins are Howdy Doody and Cowboy Bob with Clarabelle as Secretary of State.

P.S. I love "The Last of the Mohicans". The look on Magua's face when his 'choice' just sails off that precipice is priceless.

The hunting scene in the beginning is top ten all time. It was the first book I ever bought for myself when I was a kid. Still have that copy...

For the past two years I have gone to every home game of the U of Hawaiis football games and oh my god Colt Brennan kicks some A!!!!! They need to swap Brennan for Cambell. And whats up with the receivers ! All of our receivers are like #3 receivers at best. Thrash is terrible and slow, Randle El is a quarterbck, not a receiver, and Moss is the most incosistant little midget i've ever seen. I'm still mad after all these years about the champ Bailey/ Portis swap. Ohhhh Boyyyy loooooose money!!!!!

August 31, 2008  04:41 AM ET

JJ always on the Redksins pages. We now your worried for your boys. Yes as you all have said the last 2 games we looked bad the first 3 we looked great. Thats the thing about preseason.

August 31, 2008  05:47 PM ET

It's only pre-season but the 'Skins have looked just awful.
sacked92 | 08/30/08, 10:11 AM

Actually we looked quite good in the first three preseason games (going 3-0). It's only been the final two preseason games that the "Skins have looked just awful" (as you put it) in which we went 0-2.

Mental Ray | 08/30/08, 11:13 AM

I say KEEP Jon Jansen. He's a great right tackle and if he doesn't start can provide MUCH needed depth.

August 31, 2008  08:34 PM ET

I doubt the Redskins would release Jon Jansen... you keep him on the roster if he doesn't win the starting job.

The Redskin's need to start COLT BRENON now
