Knicks president/coach Isiah Thomas has not approached the Lakers yet with a firm offer for Kobe Bryant, though he admitted at Orlando's pre-draft camp he concocted a series of tentative offers. Sources say the Knicks would be atop Bryant's and Jermaine O'Neal's wish lists. Bryant has a no-trade clause and can nix any deal.

I dont know why they are still talking about Kobe being traded because it is not going to happen. The Knicks getting Oneal is a longshot but Kobe is just not going to happen. FOR ANYBODY for that matter!!!

June 13, 2007  06:59 AM ET

The only thing Isiah will be pulling is his Johnson! The Knicks will suck until Isiah and Jim Dolan are gone! NEXT TOPIC!

June 13, 2007  07:16 AM ET

It's the NY Post...consider the source.

June 13, 2007  07:23 AM ET

the knicks will never get Kobe if there gonna trade for him they would need to trade half there roster to even get a shot at getting him. Isiah's only doing this because he knows that if he dosen't have a good record by the end of next season hes out the door for good.

I talk about basketball IQ all the time.

1. This story by the post is to get a reaction, it is working!
2. Every GM will/should make the call, it almost there job to hear the words "you're kidding right!
3. Isiah made a call and got a free draft pick, which is why you make the call!

GM 101 if you hear about a player on the block that will help your team, you make the call!

Kill Dolan if you want. Dolan was asked, you are allowing Isiah to make very aggressive moves, why didn't you agree to any aggressive moves by Layden. Dolan replied, Layden never came to me with an aggressive deal.

The knick are younger and better, we will see what happen!

June 13, 2007  08:31 AM ET

Why would Kobe want to leave a garbage team for another?

I predict, next trade rumor from the Post....David Lee and Nate Robinson for Amare Stoudamire and Steve Nash.

June 13, 2007  09:10 AM ET

Apparently, very trade the Knicks make is a big trade because they grossly overpay players and still get stuck in the lottery every year. The Knicks are history until Isaiah is gone and then it'll be at least a decade before the team is in position to rebuild the franchise and get back to their championship days.

June 13, 2007  09:11 AM ET

Ohhh and just a nore of reference for all you NY fans hoping Kobe's going to NY...
NOT A CHANCE!

June 13, 2007  09:27 AM ET

I ran out of toilet paper yesterday. Consequently, I used the NY Post in its place. Specifically, I used the page 6 gossip section. It already had enough useless **** on there so I figured whats the difference. I was sure to use the sports section later however...as a hat.

So in case you guys didnt know...K-Fed is having another kid. That man has super sperm. Seriously. Whatever he's drinking, I plan on staying AWAY from it for eternity. Jeez.

Oh...yea...I'd love to have Bryant but we have a better chance at signing Magic.

June 13, 2007  09:40 AM ET

I got a blockbuster trade for the Knicks....

Dolan, Isiah and cash for NOTHING.

June 13, 2007  09:55 AM ET

hahahah Moondizzle u put a big smile on my face. Going back to the topic i dont know what people say an agressive GM is going after a trade is what they should be doing specially Isiah Thomas trying to bring somebody over so they can win maybe get into the playoffs (is a joke very far fetch) but at least he is trying. OK we clearly know now that Isiah Thomas does not know how to evaluate talent, but we do have to give him respect for trying (remember the Boss for the New York Yanks) to get the talent needed so they can win. Now if they dont win, thats somehting else at least he tried to assemble the team. At the time they had one the best point guards on the league, and they thought they had a steal with steve francis, and they thought he was gonna be a good 1-2 punch with Marbury, and they also got Curry, which he is still very young and can still develop. Maybe Isiah has something up his sleeve, that he can pull and get a trade for one tof those guys, you dont know this is the NBA

Anyone else can answer

Some of the people who write to this site really do not have a clue, some think me. I want to try something, just to gauge. Let???s try and remove the hatred for Isiah & Mulberry for a second. I know world peace is their fault to! Let???s also concede the Knicks will not win a championship in the next 2 years.

The knick won 33 games last year. How many games do you see this coming season? What would be a good year and what would be a bad year.

Can you answer this?

June 13, 2007  10:08 AM ET

If Isiah wants to bring in a high-profile name, then he better go get Vince Carter. Trade Frye, Jefferies, and Crawford for Vince. Thats about as good as it gets for New York!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

June 13, 2007  10:27 AM ET

It just goes to show that payroll means nothing. Any team run by MSG will never be more than a borderline contender (Rangers), or a complete joke (Knicks). At least its easier to get tickets now.

June 13, 2007  10:28 AM ET

Why in the world would the Knicks want Kobe Bryant? Oh, that's right -- overpaying overrated, losing players with a history of being team cancers is actually Isiah's business model! The Knicks need Kobe Bryant like they need Stephon Marbury. The Knicks will never start to get good again until their clown of a GM is finally gone.

June 13, 2007  10:40 AM ET

Why does no one realize, or care, that no team wants any of the players on the Knicks roster. What kind of offer could they even present to the Lakers that wouldn't get blatantly laughed at? It's hilarious what New York journalists will do just to sell their paper, they???ll continue to concoct these impossible and ludicrous trade destinations for Kobe.

June 13, 2007  10:43 AM ET

Kobe is a lot of things.... you can insert your various adjectives here_____, but he is not overrated. This guy is still the best offensive player in the lague, as prrof this year when he went on that ridiculous streak of 50 point games. yes, he can jack it up, but a lot of players are jackers, (Vince Carter, Gilbert Arenas, Allen Iverson) and could never do what this guy does opn a regular basis. Let's face it, Kobe is tired of playing with a supporting cast that resembles a NCAA -II roster. he wants some legit help. I don't even like the guy, but I am not a fool enough to say he is anything less than a top-three player in the league. Will he end up getitng traded? I don't think so, simply because in La-La Land he puts tonnes of butts in seats, adds profile to an otherwise bad squad, and the Lakers would be really hard-pressed to get equal value back. You wouldn't be able to sell this trade to season-ticket buyers if it meant developing players or draft picks, and how many guys stack up against his talent AND are available for trade?

June 13, 2007  10:43 AM ET

The Knicks arent win'n in the EAST...THE EAST....come on....the east is like the D-league for the west....if you are a star in the east you might make a team in the west.....the best team in the east would be 4th or 5th in the west

liontut, a good year would be anything above the 8 seed in the playoffs. after years of being horrible, anything from the 8 seed down would be a failure. Its taken too long to return to prominence. That said I predict 36 wins and another lottery visit.
