A-Rod gets caught in traffic

Alex Rodriguez might want to invest in a helicopter to go with the earplugs he needs to drown out the Yankee Stadium boos. The slumping third baseman was a late arrival to the ballpark yesterday after getting caught in Labor Day weekend traffic, according to manager Joe Girardi. Players were required to report at 4 p.m., but Rodriguez was not on the field when the team began stretching about 40 minutes later. Girardi said Rodriguez was at the ballpark in time to take batting practice, but opted to hit in the indoor cage. Rodriguez finished 1-for-3 with an infield single. His hit came as part of the two-run fourth inning that gave the Yankees their margin of victory.

Two pitchers in the Yankees' farm system - Justo Arias and Rafael Martinez - were suspended 50 games apiece yesterday after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. The suspensions will begin next season.

This is just sad.I imagine many other teams have players still using as well.

They'll always be some players on every club that will try it, majors or minors. Bad situation.

"Link us to a game review or somethin, anything but this.......what a waste of a few minutes"

you do know that they wouldn't keep posting these types of stories if it didn't generate page hits and comments, right? So basically, this "waste of a few minutes" is completely validated by your declaration that it is, indeed, a waste of a few minutes.

and by the way... A-Rod is the greatest player in the game today.
and by the way again... I'm a Red Sox fan.

Define greratesst player today .... by that do you mean that he will eventually put up numbers that will set the standards for years to come or do you mean that he can be the leader for his team to achieve great moments and many championships? because if he is to be even like a Reggie Jackson who once upon a time did lead the Yankees to those heights of glories then then he has a long row to hoe. never mind being like the Babe who was and still is the true standard for all baseball players to meet. and as far as being the greatest player today, mayb e Mr. Pulhoz eventaully might have soemthing to say about that designation in the years ahead. i have no doubt that ARod will set the career HR record but as for being a true great of the game who is a leader he has much to prove.

In other critical Yankee news...... Derek Jeter's dog had to see the vet today, and Mike Mussina opted for iced tea over Sprite at the post-game meal. Oh, and Joe Girardi got some new underwear yesterday.
