Dutch club FC Twente is strongly considering a bid for U.S. national team midfielder Sacha Kljestan. According to sources with knowledge of the discussions, the Chivas USA midfielder could join former England manager Steve McClaren at Twente if the Dutch club can make an offer MLS will consider accepting.

I'd go. The Eridivise is better than the MLS as far as development is concerned.

Respectable team.

The Netherlands is a good development place for US players to go.

Ugh...do you really want him playing for McClaren though?

Did this team not get slaughtered by Arsenal? But, it is a good start.

I hope he doesn't go. I don't see Twente as a significant step up from the MLS.

If it were a contract with Ajax, PSV, or even Feyenord (the relatively big clubs with big programs) I'd say maybe. If he were 19, or 20 years old, I'd say go. But he's 23, and though he's not done developing, he has developed well with Chivas.

If he's looking for a move to Europe, I would hope he holds out for a more competitive club, in a more competitive league. He's got the skills to play in the EPL. He could play in the Bundesliga, I'd even argue he could play in Spain, or Italy, though those two scenarios ain't real likely for the time being.

There's no question he'll be in Europe within 6 mos to a year,; but I hope when he goes, it's with a club and program that will develop him in an elite league.

he should go in my opinion as he will get UEFA cup games to play which will boost his image in europe if the team reaches the group stages.

yea, who knows, maybe he does well, gets picked up by PSV, Ajax or Feyenoord and then on to a bigger league, gotta start somehwere, GO!

Perfect start to a Euro career, under Steve Mclaren

lol, but holland is the best place to go

BGB- i would not like to see Kljestan in the EPL.... he'd be riding pine and the EPL doesnt work to his strengths... Spain, Italy and Holland fit to his abilities better.... Holland would be the best, especially with their known usage of young players (and also the developing)

i agree that he's done well to develop at CUSA, and i agree he could continue to develop there for at least another season...

But i disagree with your viewing of Twente... while they arent a high end Dutch team like PSV or Ajax, Twente is a quality side.... not to mention that he stands a better chance playing for a weaker dutch side then an already established side.... i would agree with you if we were talking about the Danish league or a Scandavian league, but Twente would be a solid move and have great exposure to the rest of europe... dont consider the talent of the team in this move to be the best reason of moving, but think about the exposure into playing against better sides and allowing other teams to see how he can react to playing in europe, rather then just the US...

Is Mclaren buying him or is Twente hoarding a player they'll never use?
