Nationals going after Manny?

One team that needs a big splash this offseason is the Washington Nationals. If they open the vault - and they should - add them to the very short list of teams that may go after Manny Ramirez, especially if Jim Bowden is still the general manager. Bowden wore a Ramirez wig on to the field last week when the Dodgers were in town. He also remarked that the two greatest hitters he's seen are Barry Bonds and Ramirez.

Manny will be able to play in front of dozens of fans, every day. No one would recognize him because no one would care. Perfect place for him.

August 31, 2008  08:46 AM ET

He is not much of a fielder now. To be as kind as I can about it. What do you suppose he will be like over his next contract?
If the Red Sox win the series this year, what do you suppose the players will vote for Mannys' share?

August 31, 2008  09:09 AM ET

manny is more of a short term guy. if the nats just got him that would be stupid. they would need to splash in the off-season with other players then just him.

But i dont think the Dodgers intensions of getting him were to do it for one half season.

August 31, 2008  09:17 AM ET

who cares???
nobody does. i cant stand manny.
hes selfish, cocky, and all he cares about is himself.

August 31, 2008  09:47 AM ET

No he might landup with the NYY.......

Grossedout9 | 08/31/08, 07:46 AM

The yankees dont need no hitters you idiot they need more pitching the pitchin sucks if they had the marlins starting five they would be first in the division.

that picture = Manny being constipated

Talk about an expensive move for a malingerer. Do they really think Manny will play for the money...No, he will just take the money and NOT run. Besides, he won't play in the National League, too much opportunity for him to embarass himself in the outfield.

Manny and Barry do have something else in common besides great hitting skills.... Not giving 100% when the mood strikes them...

He claims he's not gayy. That's like you saying you don't like Obama or me saying I'm not bald. hahahaha

August 31, 2008  11:58 AM ET

Grossdout09 i was just saying if he goes to the Nats it shows all he cares about is his money and not if hes winning or not i wasnt saying he didnt carre as a Red Sox(though sometimes it didnt seem like he didnt care)

Direct Manny quote: If we don't do it, we'll come back next year and try again. If it doesn't happen, who cares? There's always next year.

^^^ Thats after they were down 3-1 in the ALCS

Ellsbury rocks, please don't try to explain to Grossedout. He's about as sharp as a ball. And you can tell by the photo of him and his dad that he has other issues.

Ellsbury is a 4th OF

Spam x4....The Washington Nationals and Ramirez....fit's perfect. With all the money Congress throws away, why wouldn't you expect the sports franchise in town to do the same thing!
