Canes: Nobody scared of Tebow

Miami's Spencer Adkins says Florida's offense doesn't scare the Canes. Although UM respects Tebow, ''there ain't nobody scared of him,'' Ponder said. Said cornerback Brandon Harris: ``There's respect, but no fear at all.'' And safety Randy Phillips put it this way: 'Tebow is one man. The Florida Gators we're worried about -- we're not worried about one player. They have other great players -- Percy Harvin, Chris Rainey, Louis Murphy. There's no fear in Miami Hurricanes' hearts.''

Thanks to Michigan. Tebow is a very good QB but like any QB, if you apply pressure, the Qb will make mistakes. All Miami has to do is pressure him.

August 31, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Miami hasn't a chance against Florida. As Clemson proved last night, there's not a single team in the ACC that can play with any of the top 6 teams in the SEC.

August 31, 2008  08:44 AM ET

The old Miami is back, I like the trash talking, now they have to prove it.

A Senior Liberal Arts Major. Guess he put the English classes off until his Senior year....

August 31, 2008  10:31 AM ET

Nothing wrong with trash talk from the U but they better be prepared to back it up.

August 31, 2008  11:04 AM ET

If you look at every single comment they said they respect him, they just don't fear him. That's not really trash talking, why WOULD they "fear" him??? If they had said that he stunk or they didn't respect him then that would be trash talk... but this is just a team that is building their confidence.

I don't expect a W in the swamp at all, I just want to see the Baby Canes give a strong effort and put up a fight. If we lose (as we should), we lose, I just hope we play well

August 31, 2008  11:06 AM ET

"'Tebow is one man. The Florida Gators we're worried about -- we're not worried about one player."

That quote sums it up exactly. Why would any team FEAR a single player? The Gators as a whole are a tough tough squad, that is something to be worried about, not a single guy. The Canes are just speaking the truth... it's good to see them feeling so ready to play and not intimidated.

August 31, 2008  11:45 AM ET

The canes will be ready as best as they can. It???s always a good thing to respect each player on every team. But there are a lot of football players that respect each other since many have played against each other. The Hurricanes are coming back and they may not be there yet but I do believe that the Gators will not take the Canes lightly. I am more concern with the entire analyst committee that rated the top 25 since three out of the 4 who lost maybe should have not been rated as high. I would like to see the Gators keep the Canes on the schedule annually but they choose not to do so. The Gators need to rolled out the red carpet and have a great sportsmanship game and may the best team win.

August 31, 2008  12:07 PM ET

Florida game will be closer then it has been in a while. Look for the gators to pull away in the 4th - 35-21 Gators.

August 31, 2008  12:53 PM ET

Spam x2.....You get the feeling that Miami or Florida S. would just love to wipe that sh** eating grin right off his face!!

August 31, 2008  01:48 PM ET

I get the feeling that FSU ran their mouth last year and that didn't turn out so well.

Maybe the other FL schools should keep their traps shut about anything 'UF or Tebow.

August 31, 2008  02:28 PM ET

The Canes should upgrade their schedule to prove to everyone they are really the 4th best team in the state after FL, USF and FSU. I'm sure UCF would give them a better game than FL ITL or Key West CC. Prove you are not irrelevant before blowing off your mouths.

August 31, 2008  02:50 PM ET

Unless a player is bringing an Uzzi to the game, there is never a reason to fear another player. Respect is totally different than fear. I admire what the Canes said. Shows a little class mixed with some confidence.

August 31, 2008  02:58 PM ET

They shouldn't fear Tim Tebow....they should fear Harvin, Demps, Rainey, Murphy, and James. Those are the snipers on the UF squad.

August 31, 2008  03:10 PM ET

I want all of you doubters to respond back to my postings after next week's game. UF is also one of the overrated teams, just like Clemson, Pitt, & VT. I hope everyone realized Colt Brennan and his WR corp are no longer there, to include the coach who called all the plays. Hawaii made a pathetic secondary that gave up over (5) 300 - yd passing games. This week the speed will be matched in every position. The streak now gors to 7 straight against the Gayturds.

I will be referring back to this blog to personally e-mail each one of you doubters.

August 31, 2008  03:21 PM ET

FOXX,

couldn't agree more. Hawaii lost a significant portion of their star players and their coach. I thought that the Florida defense looked pretty bad with Hawaii breaking tackles etc. Also, the pick six's were thrown straight to the defense? Tebow struggled and Moody stunk. Chris Rainey had one nice play but reminded me of a track guy imitating a football player. Every team in the SEC has track guys who are blazing that never turn into superstars and I think Rainey looked like an average player. The loss of the TE really hurt them. Also, they look weak on the line. Florida also padded the score at the end which is normal for them. Gators will lose at least 2 this year probably 3.

August 31, 2008  03:25 PM ET

Also, I realize Harvin wasn't there but heels don't heal overnight and he can easily reinjure this again and again throughout the year. I think he will probably be out for UM. Also, the weight and heel surely he will lose a half a step plus he has a bad attitude and is a cancer to the team. Maybe Tebow should try to save him first, looks like he needs to be saved. Where was Demps, I watched most of the game and don't remember him doing anything? So a hurt Harvin, absent Demps, a little less Super Tebow, no Ingraham, and a track star Rainey. Not talking smack but just wasn't impressed.

August 31, 2008  03:42 PM ET

foxx,

Dude...I understand you are excited about the potential um has in the future, but c'mon, at least wait until after the game to remind us why we hate miami fans and forgot who that "other team" was.

Sure Hawaii didn't give us much to learn from; hopefully um will.

August 31, 2008  03:43 PM ET

Saying you "Respect" somebody is already admitting fear. Chomp Chomp

August 31, 2008  03:48 PM ET

by the way look for superman to run the ball more against the cains. they played conservative in the tune up game againts the rainblows. Now they get another tune up game with UM but this is an in state rivalry so they wont be as nice this game. Chomp. Chomp.
