As far as Bonds is concerned the Feds are really trying to nail his ****. should have just told the truth and there would be no case.

Whether you like Bonds & Anderson or not, this is wrong. If the gov'et. can't make a case, they should not be able to use the IRS to pressure family members in order to bail themselves out. It is unconstitutional. I know this is a sports board but this is happening too often in this country & should be a warning to everyone.

I'm no fan of Bonds but this is ridiculous. Our federal government has bigger crooks to go after with this much energy and resources than Barry Bonds. What the hell are the priorities of our government officials these days???

For everyone who thinks the federal government is being ridiculous here you couldn't be further from the truth. Example one: Martha Stewart lied to the feds and got six months in prison. Example two: Marion Jones lied to the feds and got even more prison time. Example three: Jason Giambi told the truth and no criminal penalty was involved. Simply put, yes, the feds have bigger fish to fry, but if you lie to them for any reason, no matter how minor, you become that bigger fish. Both Marion Jones and Martha Stewart wouldn't have a criminal record if they had just told the truth. The same is true with Bonds. He wouldn't be in this mess had he just honed up to his steroid use.

tr0ysbuckett, thank you for saving me some typing. Agree completely. Tell the truth, and its done. And why is it dragging still? Bonds' lawyers keep asking for extensions. Having read the SF Chronicle yesterday, Anderson's mother in law has been running a shell game for years, so she brought the heat on herself. Regarding Anderson's marriage, too bad, but it seems he'd rather be in jail than spend time with his wife. Losers all.

The federal penal system is jammed full of guys who "told the truth" to the feds......

Actually Jones wouldn't have a criminal record, and Bonds wouldn't still have this hanging over him. At the BALCO trial, witnesses were told they would not be prosecuted if they were truthful, and they would be if they lied. That seems clear. Martha may not have had that deal. The Feds wanted cooperation to close down a steroids ring, so offered to not prosecute. Bonds' hubris is at fault in his case. He would still be a jerk, but he wouldn't have this still hanging over him, and people he supposedly cares about. Some friend.

Bonds has this coming. He chose to break the law and lie about it. Then the **** had the gall to get pissed when he was called to task. He had the gall to lie when the feds gave him immunity on a ****ing silver platter. He brought this on himself, and has NO right to be upset at all.

Onto Anderson's wife. The feds are trying to make their case as solid as possible. They may have everything they need to get Bonds. But they want to make absolutely certain that there is NO way the slimeball gets away with his crimes.

Is Barry dead yet?
That or him going to jail are the only Barry Bonds stories that I ever want to see.
