Upset Pitt coach on hot seat
The warm seat that Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt began the season sitting on has just become blazing hot. That's because the Panthers, still in search of their first winning season under their fourth-year coach, dropped their opener yesterday, losing, 27-17, to Bowling Green of the Mid-American Conference before a crowd of 45,063 at Heinz Field. The Panthers entered their opener ranked No. 25 and picked to contend for the Big East Conference title.

I don't know if Wannstedt is a crappy coach or if he just ends up in crappy situations. Chances are, it's probably both. He might have a tough time finding another HC job if he loses this one.

Wannstedt just can't finish a game. I mean a team coached by him. Well, he does have last years win over WV to tell his grandkids about.

Wannstache is just a horrible coach. The plays "not to lose" instead of to win. I witnessed his ruining of the Miami Dolphins down here for 4 years before our owner came to his senses and fired him. Wanny's favorite motto "It's not a sin to punt" served him well yesterday. It cost him the game when he punted twice on BG's 35 yard line. He's a horrible game planner, too conservative, sux at half-time adjustments, and is afraid to throw the ball. Yes he can recruit. But what good is that if he couldn't coach a pop warner team.
He forced Marino into retirement and then ruined the Dolphins. Now he's ruining Marino's alma matta, Pitt. When he gets fired after this year he will go to Marino's high school tem and ruin that too.
My advice, get ready for another losing season from Wannstache.

No matter where he has coached, this guy has NEVER BEEN A WINNER!!! It's amazing how he manages to get coaching jobs....truly amazing.....and the lack of negative press about him is just as amazing. There are dozens of no-name coaches superior to this guy. The idiots at Pittsburgh have made their bed, now they can lay in it.....suckers.

"That's because the Panthers... dropped their opener yesterday... before a crowd of 45,063 at Heinz Field."
Where? When I was looking at the last five minutes of the game on TV (and it was still a game then), there couldn't have been more than 20,000 folks there.

Remarkable although I thought BGSU could take Pitt.
For the Dolphin fan: how have the fish done since Dave was fired? Not sure it can all be laid at his feet based on the last few years including the idiotic hiring of Saban (when are pro owners going to learn?).

They should fire him now and let the assistant coach run things. He doesn't have IT.

Spam x3.....One of the many coaches who couldn't handle the NFL, then figures he can coach at the college level, and rudely finds out......DOH!

45,000? No freaking way, more like half that. The games Pitt plays with attendance numbers are ridiculous -- just watch ANY game and see that what's reported is FAR less than an actual number.
The best part is, some Pitt fans still defend Wanny and his pornstache. Just because he is a 'big' name doesn't mean he is the right guy. And they hired Pederson too! LOL!

He is just a bad coach, stinks in college, the pros, I wouldnt hire him now for any head coaching job. Maybe he can go down and win with a Jr high school team.

Nah, I was at the game, it was probably like 45000, the entire bottom level was filled. Yeah many people had left with 5 min left in the game...but seriously, it was 90 degrees with a blazing hot sun beating down on us with not a cloud in sight. I don't blame those who left, if for nothing else, than just more frustration that the Stache is ruining Pitt Football.

What a shocker! A Wannstedt coached team unprepared for a season opener! Sorry Pitt fans, but he will ruin this program also.
