Developer Ed Roski Jr.'s business partner says he has "no doubt" a National Football League team will play in the Los Angeles area in 2009, most likely at the Rose Bowl. Majestic Realty Vice President John Semcken also said he believes there is a possibility two NFL teams could wind up playing in the $800 million stadium Roski wants to build in Industry adjacent to Diamond Bar.

WOW! How does he promise this? I love my city of LA, but promising a NFL team in 2009 is really pushing the envelope. Plus this is the first comment.

Sure seems there would be alot of hurdles to overcome to bring a team so soon.I still think that Jacksonville or the Saints seem the most probable to move.

September 1, 2008  11:48 AM ET

I would think the Rams, but there are significant stadium contract issues to overcome to move them so soon. I seriously doubt that there will be an NFL team in LA that quickly

September 1, 2008  11:51 AM ET

LA needs to worry about getting a team first let alone a second team.

The power of positive thinking

September 1, 2008  12:08 PM ET

The USC Trojans are going to move up.

September 1, 2008  12:09 PM ET

Either that, or I would actually like to see an Expansion Team - The Houston Texans did alright and it would really hurt the city of St. Louis to lose the Rams.

September 1, 2008  12:11 PM ET

I would take anything he says with a BIG grain of salt. Everytime he says something, the other party denies it. ( ie. the Rose Bowl people). Some of the teams he mentions as wanting to go there is almost laughable. Here is his list:
In April, Roski listed the New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers
Maybe some day, but not that soon.

September 1, 2008  12:13 PM ET

LA? Wow. The city of Angels home of the Las Angeles Saints. I am sure there is a story line here somewhere.

September 1, 2008  12:14 PM ET

Sorry Mr. Roski but " no - there is a lot of doubt about a pro team in 2009 or even 2019 for that matter". The LA of today is very different from the LA of twenty five years ago - economically I doubt they can support a NFL franchise anymore !!!

September 1, 2008  12:24 PM ET

The USC Trojans are going to move up.

Wow. Funny.

September 1, 2008  12:26 PM ET

Some day perhaps but NOT in 2009, so I agree with doubters,
it aint happening in 2009, I love to see return of L.A. Rams,
but thats a figment of my brain, but big maybe in 2012.
Just to add, I dont think either Raiders or 49ers will move south.
For the NFL rich in history, and local fan support, not a good move.
Raiders and 49ers should/could share stadium much like Giants/Jets.
Chargers are the most interesting thought, we'll have to wait and see.

September 1, 2008  12:43 PM ET

With the Hollywood people being **** for camera time, he could fill a stadium just with celebrities. Of course, he'd have to let them constantly come down on the field for photo ops.
The NFL can't stand to dilute its talent any further. Thirty-two is a perfect number for teams and the divisions, schedule rotations and playoffs can't be better. Please, NFL, don't screw this up!!!
How about having games rotate thru LA? If LA can guarantee a "purse", let them prove they deserve a team. Otherwise, the next greedy owner who can't get the stadium deal he wants would move in a California minute.

September 1, 2008  01:17 PM ET

Wow, promising one in 2009? That's gonna be hard to live up to. So....expansion or move a team. Where did this come from?

September 1, 2008  01:42 PM ET

Perhaps he has an eye on the Lions. lol. If all he wants is a team, well . . . southeastern Michigan has had its fill of a loser. (If no other established NFL teams wants to come to Motown, how about an expansion club?

September 1, 2008  01:43 PM ET

Saints? Jaguars? Even do they are great teams. Saints enviormental issues. Also Jags, no good fan base. So one of those two

September 1, 2008  01:52 PM ET

Fourth time's a charm I guess.

September 1, 2008  01:53 PM ET

Biggest problem is unless a team from CA movies it will be competing with SD, SF and Oakland. That means if a team moved from outside it would be competing with those three teams that already have an established fanbase. Adding more teams isn't in the cards in the next decade due to the need to add four total teams so the NFC and AFC have an even number of teams. Also with the monetary issues facing the league (rookie contracts team finances salary cap) and the possibility of a strike. Also for the mere fact that LA is a basketball town.

September 1, 2008  01:57 PM ET

Go with an expansion team.

I'm for the L.A. move.

So, from the title, Gwen Stefani and her band are suiting up?
