Miami Dolphins re-sign Ricky Williams

The Dolphins have The Ricky and Ronnie Show at running back until at least the end of next season, if they so desire; Josh McCown was the jettisoned quarterback instead of John Beck on potential; and safety Keith Davis got dumped last week because the top three remaining safeties from last season allayed the new Dolphins regime's fears.

If Ricky is really serious about playing then this is a good move. He's a good RB who doesn't have a lot of wear and tear on his body due to his suspensions.

If his head isn't in the clouds (literally) then this move will pay off.

Don't know why, but I am rooting for the guy. Never used to, but he must be sincere to work his way back..

September 1, 2008  11:50 AM ET

I'd like to see him do well.Even though he's had more chances than a $10 scratch off ticket.

Welcome back to Dallas, Keith!

Looks like Ricky is still serious about his commitment to football. Good for him. =-]

Must need money big time

There's no doubt ! It seems ricky finally realized, man cannot live on weed alone , but even if his motivation is strictly money it seams he might finally have a clear head on his shoulders and could be poised to have a pretty good year. Time will tell.

September 1, 2008  08:37 PM ET

No one knows if this was a good move or not. We will have to wait and see.

September 1, 2008  10:08 PM ET

I hope he busts 1500 yds. Longhorns all the way!

September 1, 2008  11:47 PM ET

this is big for Ricky because it tells him the Dolphins believe he will do well for the first time in 4 years or so.

September 1, 2008  11:48 PM ET

People sleep on his ability, but he led the league in '02.
Like J Hova said, his body is in great condition due to all the suspensions. He has a healthy conditioned body & experienced mind which definitely helps us. This extension should go along way in encouraging him to keep totin' the rock for da Dolphins. Until he plays the entire season free of controversy, people will continue to doubt his character...Hopefully he can regain his TOP form!!

I like Ricky, I think he gets a bad rap.. I hope he does well this year.
