On cut day, it was the NFL taking the ax to Jets running back Jesse Chatman. For the first four games of the season, anyway. Chatman, signed as a free agent in the offseason, was suspended yesterday for violating the league's drug policy, though the circumstances regarding the failed test seem to be in dispute.

I would have cut him. Steroids or no steroids, he doesn't impress me as someone that's going to be part of the team's plans.

Cut him, anyway.

My bad: NY Daily News reported him as being on the 'roids.

September 1, 2008  12:49 PM ET

at this point I would certainly cut him........
as you said- nothing special, no history with the team, wasn't going to have a significant factor in the offense
he's the perfect player you cut to 'prove' you're tough on these type offenses

No loss at all for the Jets. Just another sorry-arse player on their sorry-arse team !!!

September 1, 2008  02:46 PM ET

were going to be a better team before until the 5th game of the season

September 1, 2008  03:59 PM ET

who?

September 1, 2008  04:08 PM ET

The NFL doesn't like the Jets and figured they suck so bad it wouldn't matter if they susspend him for the first 4 games hahaha while the Pat's Faulk only gets a 1 game susspension because they are a premium team ! HAHAHAHA

Why hasn't the NFL suspended Nick Kazcur? Oh wait he's on the Patriots - they don't touch them.

September 1, 2008  05:55 PM ET

blame the dolphins for this one hahah j.k

September 1, 2008  08:36 PM ET

I agree. If they fail a drug test, they should be suspended.

Roger Goodell is obviously on the SUPERBOWL LOSERS - patriots payroll with double standards like this!

September 1, 2008  11:44 PM ET

Nope he just knows a winning DYNASTY team when he sees one .. the Jets aren't even a footnote in the nfl .. especially with their catpuke record of 4-12 ! Rediculous !

September 2, 2008  02:33 AM ET

another immature, bandwagon pats fan who believes in the infallibility of his own team. the nfl grovels to no one, because the league is certainly bigger than any one team. cheer for your team, enjoy their success, engage in playful smack-talk, but don't be an arrogant dick about it.

September 2, 2008  03:46 AM ET

Absolutely I am no such thing ! I relish the Pats success ! They with out a doubt are the most dominant team in NFL history ! Win - Lose they are and forever will be GREAT ! Not many NFL teams can do that these days so they should MODel themselves after the PATRIOTS ! They could only dream to be the team the Patriots are !

September 2, 2008  09:14 AM ET

The Pats should get Vinatieri back so they can start winning Championships again. Offense wins regular season games, but Vinatieri and Defense wins Championships. They had a legit shot at being a 3-point Dynasty, but they let him go...

September 2, 2008  10:57 AM ET

They're not too dominant when Tom Brady doesn't play. Just check out there preseason record...can you say doughnut.

September 2, 2008  02:04 PM ET

Bellichek should have been suspended for four games and the Patriots entire draft should have been taken away.

September 2, 2008  02:23 PM ET

No way Viniteri doesn't deserve the big money he wanted . now we have Gohst. to kick and he has dont great.. as for the pre season ... Mr. Brady was out w/ his gorgeous girlfriend , he couldnt waste his time breaking a sweat to embaress the nfl in just a pre season please ! He is the best QB in the NFL right now so the NFL can grovel to him ! Tampa here comes the Pats for their 4th RING !
