Lecavalier hopes to be ready

As the days before reporting for Lightning training camp continue to dwindle, Vinny Lecavalier is hoping he'll be able to suit up when the games count for real. Lecavalier, fresh off a new 11-year contract signed in July, returned to Tampa recently to work directly with Lightning team trainer Tom Mulligan. The earlier-than-normal trek back to town for Lecavalier comes as he continues to rehabilitate his surgically repaired right shoulder. The fact the 28-year-old star center is back on the ice is certainly positive news.

The Lightning NEED Vinny back and healthy....

September 2, 2008  08:17 AM ET

Tampa needs him if they are going to get anything accomplished this year.

The advantage for the Lightning is that the season hasn't started yet so he wont miss that much time if any. Besides, with all of the offseason moves, they should be fine until he's ready to play. Everyone had the Pens left for dead when Fleury and then Crosby went down, but the rest of the team stepped it up.

We all hope Vinny is ready.

They need him back and most of all.. healthy.

September 2, 2008  09:15 AM ET

He'll be ready!
But so what, Tampa still doesn't make it to the Playoffs but should finish high enough not to get a top 5 draft pick.

Vinny hopes to be ready, by taking off both skate guards. That was easily one of the best T&R stories I have read.

Tampa won't make the playoffs...the D and goalie situation is terrible there. Anyone playing goal for them is going to look like the goalie in Slap Shot having flashbacks

Hi guys, back from vacation
Tampa won't make the playoffs for sure.
Vinny should be careful. This is a tough injury to come back from for a guy like him, and a wrong hit, (and he WILL be hit a lot) and he will never be the player is is.

Hopefully he fully recovers from this. Tampa goes as Vinny goes.

Just like Arnie the Guvner, he'll be back...

Vinnie is my current favourite NHL centre. He does it all. Including dropping the gloves.

In a perfect world he'd be a Hab.
