Marlins manager defends Uggla
Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez spoke with Dan Uggla about his handful of mindless mistakes the past month but insists it's ''unfair'' to say he has a low baseball IQ. ''It's baseball instincts,'' Marlins special assistant Andre Dawson said, asserting Uggla needs ``a little more focus and concentration.''

Well, they didn't pay hiim a lot of money so there's the chance he'll be traded. He did have a good first half of the season, so there's hope that he'll turn it around. And if anything, there's always next year.

None. I believe Chase Utley wasn't the best fielder when he first came up, so give him a chance. -- Not that he'll EVER be Chase Utley!
