Hokies reverse course on QBs

One week after announcing his intention to redshirt sophomore quarterback Tyrod Taylor, Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer reversed course Tuesday and said Taylor and senior Sean Glennon will share quarterbacking duties. The decision was made in the wake of Virginia Tech's 27-22 loss to East Carolina on Saturday, when Glennon threw for 139 yards and two interceptions. The loss dropped Virginia Tech out of the Associated Press top 25.

lol....I saw this coming from day one. The Hokies really have no one on offense that scares you. Opposing Defenses can pin thier ears back and all out blitz. Glennon is Garbage. Everyone knew that last season. They wanted to give him a chance but, he really isn't the answer. At least let Tyrod play.

Taylor could provide lots of excitement. There is going to be a lot of growing pains but I think that the Hokies will win more and get more recruits.

Panic button has been fully engaged.

Glennon is a mess...you can't do worse.

Should've made that decision during the spring. Tyrod probably would've beaten Glennon out for the starting job. Glennon was horrible last year and I'm wondering what the coaches saw him do in the spring that made them give him another chance.

Everyone thought he could beat E. Carolina, but he is garbage

Damn! I am glad FB made the right decision this time. Glennon has sucked since day 1.

I still feel Glennon might have turned things around. Part of this feeling is based on the idea not to rush a young guy lik eTyrod into an already poor situation. The Hokies aren't a strong team and I'm not sure what a true Freshmen can bring them in the leadership department. I feel this team needs a leader more than they maybe need some ultimate play maker at QB; whose possible skills might end up in a garbage situation; see the saga of David Carr.

Well, Glennon better bring a pillow to every game cause it looks like he's sitting his senior season out.

J. Hova
Boateng missed two very vital catches in last Sat.'s game against MSU. Must have been dreaming about Neptune and Ocean, eh? He will be pulled unless he makes those catches in the WSU game.

well college football fan, tyrod is not a true freshman and started 4 or 5 games last year and won all that he did. tech got thumped by LSU last year but were able to turn their season around and tyrod was a major part of that. he adds another demension to the offense and gives teams one more thing to worry about. plus i live 45 minutes from blacksburg so i get some inside info. there was a rumor going around that tyrod was going to leave and play elsewhere...this could have possibly been a move to keep him around. this is tyrod's team, not glennons. beamer wanted tyrod from the beginning and the other coaches convinced him on glennon.

GO HOKIES!!!

Glennon should've been more aware tha number one lots of hokie fans wanted Tyrod and the staff would be quick to run him out. and number two that he isn't exactly elite college football quarterback material. and number three thank god that this team is going to have at least one or two things explosive on the offense.

September 6, 2008  02:19 PM ET

Tyrod is elite College Football Quaterback material. He was Top 5 coming out of high school two years ago. Without Tyrod the Hokies would have never made it too the BCS Bowl Series in the first place. I also saw this true freshman go into Death Valley and soundily beat the Clemson Tigers single handily. They seriousily lack a running game without him in the backfield. Glennon doesn't add that feature. What should have happened in Blacksburg last season; he should have been red-shirted, but Glennon looked hella' scared on openning day as he did last year against LSU. This would've been an issue going into this season if Mr. Taylor didn't get hurt last year and Glennon returned and played decent in most situations. Tyrod brings instant leadership in the same form as Tim Tebow does in Florida. I know Mr. CCHUNG215 knows all too well about Mr. Tebow.

Its about time, Tyrod is clearly a better choice, even since last year. They were just trying to spare Glennon's feelings lol He's more effective and more entertaining to watch. VTech just thought that they could get some extra time outta Taylor,

this is kinda like OSU with Pryor and Boeckman, Pryor can start now, but they just wanna bring him along slowly and use Boeckman while they can
