The Cowboys aren't expected to sign another quarterback until next week. But they've already begun the interview process. Former Minnesota quarterback Brooks Bollinger visited Valley Ranch for a workout this week. Bollinger, 28, is entering his sixth season and has a career 2-8 record as a starter. Bollinger played seven games in the last two seasons with the Vikings. He started against the Cowboys in the preseason finale and completed six of 18 passes for 62 yards. The Cowboys have also discussed Chris Simms, the former Texas quarterback who was cut by Tampa Bay. Simms, Todd Bouman and Joey Harrington all worked out for Baltimore on Monday.

If it was a few years from now I am sure Favre would be interested in unretiring....I post this with consideration of no where else to put my Brett comments today (finally).

September 3, 2008  07:44 AM ET

Yeah, we best tread lightly BoBo lest we're accused of stereotyping anyone.

Wow, Pats and Cowboys one/two. The hating should be monumental today.

September 3, 2008  08:14 AM ET

It really doesn't matter - unless Romo gets hurt, no one behind him will even get a chance to sniff the football. Dallas hasn't had a decent backup in years.

September 3, 2008  08:18 AM ET

The point is they need a younger person with more mobility. Johnson is not that.

September 3, 2008  08:18 AM ET

they definitely don't need Bollinger ... Simms isn't all that great either ...

September 3, 2008  08:20 AM ET

Cowboys should be looking for a playoff win!

September 3, 2008  08:24 AM ET

Simms isn't all that great either ...

winkstrap | 09/03/08, 07:20 AM

What do you mean?

September 3, 2008  08:31 AM ET

Harrington would be a decent fill in... he clearly struggles as a starter but could be useful in a less stress position as a backup. Some QB's are just better fits as backups and seem to do well in that position.
