Henderson wants Silva rematch

At a time when so many top fighters are very careful about selecting their next opponent, Dan Henderson agreed to face Rousimar Palhares even though he didn't have a clue who he was. Henderson (22-7) hopes to take Palhares (17-1) out of his submission game in step one toward earning a rematch with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Silva choked Henderson out in the second round of their March 1 UFC vs. PRIDE middleweight champion showdown in Columbus, Ohio, which unified the belts.

This would be a good rematch....

I liked the first fight and though Hendo was doing a good job until he gave up his back...

I would like to see it. Dan was in the fight until he made one mistake. Sux that that's all it takes when fighting the best fighter in the world.

thats all it takes in the streets as well...

I agree...just ask Rich Franklin!

September 3, 2008  12:34 PM ET

Exactly, I think Rich finally understands. Henderson should really think hard about fighting Silva again, another loss and he might find himself even more of an also-ran, even though Henderson can still whip up on people, Silva is in a class of his own.

I agree with the guy above that spoke about the one mistake costing the fight..it seemed like it was a pretty good fight up to then...I would not mind seeing a rematch

September 3, 2008  12:58 PM ET

Who else is gonna fight?

September 3, 2008  01:32 PM ET

I'm just suprised he's so good in the UFC -- in Pride Silva's record was only 4 and 2. He comes over to the UFC and is undefeated. Don't get it.

September 3, 2008  04:31 PM ET

As of right now there are only two fighters at 185 that pose a threat to Anderson Silva... Dan Henderson and Paulo Filho. Neither one really has a great shot at beating the Spider.

I would like to see Wanderlei drop to fight him. But until that happens we need to give Hendo another shot if he beats Palhares. The talent at 185 is slim and has looked pathetic against Silva. Hendo is game against any fighter at 185 or 205. I mean lets face it, we cant count on Bisping or Okami to give Silva a hard time. So who's next....

...Patrick Cote??? You got to be sh*tting me!

September 3, 2008  04:47 PM ET

If anything, it shows that Henderson isn't afraid of Silva. Should be a good rematch.

September 3, 2008  06:19 PM ET

As much as I like Hendo I'm not sure Anderson is a good matchup for him. Dan needs to start getting and staying in the best cardio shape ever.

September 4, 2008  01:52 PM ET

the reason there is no competition for him at 185 is because he really isn't 185 come fight time. He is back up to over 200lbs when the fight starts.

September 4, 2008  02:32 PM ET

Henderson dominated the first round on the ground, lost in the second because he decided to stand with Silva. Stupid mistake. He's too stubborn about trading punches. If he can keep the fight on the ground, he has a good chance of winning.

September 4, 2008  05:55 PM ET

Of course he is back up over 200 lbs when the fight starts...that's how it is with basically ALL fighters. Did you actually think fighters stayed at the required weigh-in weight all the time? You must not know too much about wrestling or fighting....rookie.

You gotta be kidding me!!! All you Silva haters writing negative reason after reason why this guy is so good. The reason why all competition seems so bad in that 185 class is B/C the Spider is great. Hendo was only in that fight b/c he's a cheap **** and kept putting his hands on/in Silva's mouth so that he couldn't breathe. Silva will beat him again and this time it will be in the 1st round.
