Heat rookie point guard Mario Chalmers could face further disciplinary action from the team and league after he was dismissed Tuesday from the NBA's mandatory rookie transition program. Chalmers, a second-round draft pick, was sent home on the opening day of the program in New York after he and Memphis Grizzlies rookie Darrell Arthur were reportedly caught with marijuana and women in their room. The NBA said the players were sent home because they are prohibited from having guests in their hotel rooms during the program. Rye Brook (N.Y.) police were called to the Doral Arrowwood Resort at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday after hotel security reported the smell of marijuana coming from a guest room, a police official, reading details from the incident report, told the Miami Herald Wednesday night.

Messed up attitdues. These boys did not learn from mamma. Bad things happening to the youth of America and they be stupid to get kicked out of this NBA kindergarten babysitting. Not a private matter when boys acting bigger than they be. Par for the course. No color issue here.....they all been sorta screwed-up from society in general. Drugs, drink, sex,.....too much too soon.

September 4, 2008  06:07 AM ET

They get in trouble for having chicks in there rooms! wow!

Nah i'm kidding i know its a deeper issue but i couldn't give a crap, there kids kids make mistakes. Mind you future NBA players shouldnt be acting up, you would think they would cherish a career in the NBA more then they have obviously shown.

Oh well...........the next generation of players that had a future but blow it alway.

September 4, 2008  07:06 AM ET

This paints a bad picture...but its almost kind of funny. Put a towel under the door...didnt they teach you anything at college?

They will learn to be more discreet. They will be made an example of, but this isnt the end of the world. I have a question, "how do pot smokers run up and down the floor"?

September 4, 2008  07:10 AM ET

What the heck??? Why? He was a solid guy in college that never had these issues; at least in public. Does money do this right away and they feel they are set for life and do not care? Got to keep all stupid things private... sad start for a solid player. Hope it is a lesson and one not repeated.

September 4, 2008  07:30 AM ET

Haha....it happens every day..no big deal

September 4, 2008  07:45 AM ET

they messed up even before they had their first game. new players, same problems

September 4, 2008  07:49 AM ET

This is sad. Really sad. You got 2 kids that you would think would be the cleanest and nicest guys but whoaa they seem to be the opposite. Looks can be very deceiving. These two seems to be hard working and honest guys but one mistake will erase everything that they built. Why can't they learn before it actually happens to them, There are news all around them which you would think they would learn from. News like Derrick Rose getting caught speeding. Josh Howard admitting smoking pot. This just shows how stupid these players are.

And you would think Chalmers would be the starting PG for the Heat. That's a big question mark now.

Quite a character trying to do such things on an official NBA event. And such a partcular league event.

Can't they be discrete for a while?

Now they will see what does it men when they say one stupid mistake can change their lives. Fortunately, It wasn't as bas as Len Bias'. That guy is a penultimate example for all what ifs.

Woe is me.. college-age kids with pot and women? What is this world coming to? Nothing like that ever happened when I was in college (or just out of college for that matter).

September 4, 2008  08:11 AM ET

2 young NBA rookies, with loads of cash in their pocket, caught with girls and weed? Shocking! yawn.

September 4, 2008  08:14 AM ET

Thanks for bringing that up... The ultimate what if would be Arvydas Sabonis.
A rookie at 30years of age.

But he doesn't belong to this thread. What happened to him is more of politics that stupidity.

... I mean THAN stupidity (by Chalmers and Arthur)

But he doesn't belong to this thread. What happened to him is more of politics that
