And the NY Post continues its brand of irresponsible, knee-jerk reaction pseudo journalism. Cashman has repeatedly said he will not discuss this stuff because a season is still going on and that is the reason. There are NO on-the-record sources saying he's thinking of leaving. Cashman is a class-act and had the best intentions of the present Yankees at mind. Today's Star Ledger has the correct and much different angle on this fake topic. Even as a Yankee hater, I can't help but have absolute respect for this guy. The New York Post is neo-con owned and run GARBAGE.

Show him the money and clearly he should see all offers... he would be a huge asset to anyone.

He has the easiest job in baseball..... big budget, new stadium, myopic fans..... so the money rolls in and he can buy whoever he wants..... a trained monkey could do his job.....

I agree with EastCoastKeith, but at the same time these stories are growing in intensity. Cashman has stated that since the Yanks refuse to negotiate contracts in season with players he feels honor bound to wait on his own contract. Fair enough, but at the same time if he wants to remain with the team he could send a signal of that. It would scotch these rumors.

The press thinks they see smoke, and are looking for a fire. Cashman intentionally or not is not bringing much clarity to the situation.

He is just driving up the price of his services.

This is the first GM that should be shown the door.He has been responsible for bringing in players since 1998,he was with the organisation before then,but not the man resposible for trades and free agent signings.He has been responsible for a long line of substandard starting pitching and bull-pen pitching.On top of that he kept signing veteran hitters or sub par bench players.This and this alone is the reason this man should not just be shown the door,if I was chairman I would have sacked him some time ago.From John Hurley.

He won't do anything anywhere else wiithout the unlimited budget. You heard it here first...he will fail at his next job.

He will not make it in philly. Currently he is with an organization that will spend a load of money for good players. The Phils, on the other hand, will do no such thing. This is a cheap organization

He will stay with the Yankees, that is the best Gm job to have in all of baseball.

Nicely said ECK. Other then having the West coast scores earlier then the other papers the Post is a rag.

Cashman could drive to Philly with a box of pastries and a handgun and the Phillies still would manage to not hire him. Why? Because the ownership SUCKS. The new Phillies GM will be company man Ruben Amaro, Jr. aka Ed Wade Light.

Take the Phillies gig. Between the Mariners, Phillies, and Nationals I would definitely take the Phillies.
