Titans kick safety out of practice

Titans safety Michael Griffin was kicked out of practice Wednesday after an altercation with a teammate. Griffin and cornerback Cary Williams got tangled up during a drill and were separated before they came to blows, but Griffin continued to jaw at Williams well after the altercation and ignored Coach Jeff Fisher's order to calm down. Teammates were unsuccessful in soothing Griffin, so Fisher sent him to the locker room. There's a good chance the Titans will fine Griffin. He's believed to be the first player kicked out of practice since defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth in 2003. This is at least his second outburst at practice. Last season as a rookie, he fought with linebacker LeVar Woods in a special teams drill and had to be restrained after the incident.

Titans should trade Griffin to the Panthers for Ken Lucas. That would solve both teams problems. And steve smith would finally learn a lesson about sucker punching people..

Roid rage?

September 4, 2008  08:07 AM ET

Might just be the normal start of season adjustment to a new pharmaceutical cocktail Go Boys!! Hooah! rather than a full blown rage...

Heh, heh. Good one ghost.

September 4, 2008  08:47 AM ET

pw....Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Good work.

It's hot, and they're ready to hit someone with a different jersey. Non-story.

If I was Jerry Jones, I would offer a 7th rounder for him. Roy might be on his way out this year. Michael Griffin would love to come back to Texas.

Sounds like the Titans have a real thug on their hands. Look for some off-the-field trouble from this knucklehead in the near future.

September 4, 2008  09:44 AM ET

I was thinking the same thing Dave...

Dapper Dave - I don't foresee any off-field trouble from Michael Griffin at ALL. I have to agree with jj730 that it's a non-story. The first game is coming up in a few days, and they are ready to "hit someone with a different jersey." I think the Titans are going to keep Griffin for a long time. Don't hold your breath in Texas waiting for him - idiot.

Go Boys!! Hooah! | 09/04/08, 08:02 AM

That was the first thing that entered my mind. It's sad that sports is so flooded with steroids that it is the first thing that comes to my mind when a player acts like an idiot. The truth is he could simply... well.. be an idiot! Some people don't need the help of drugs. Look at Mike Tyson. Sheeeshhhhh.. you talk about rage.

September 4, 2008  10:32 AM ET

They should of just let the LB kick his **** last year...
