Angels pitcher Jered Weaver sustained cuts on the tips of the middle and ring fingers of his pitching hand while pushing himself up off the Comerica Park dugout bench during Tuesday night's game against the Tigers. The cuts were not deep enough to require stitches. But the injury did force Angels Manager Mike Scioscia to push back Weaver's next start, from Friday night at Chicago to Monday night at home against the Yankees.

Wow... It sounds like the Tigers are sabotaging the vistors dugout. Or maybe the splinters were there from fat-boy Miguel thinking the bench was a giant banana split.

Did Scioscia kiss it and make it all better?

September 4, 2008  09:29 AM ET

This sounds like a Pavano injury

September 4, 2008  12:38 PM ET

No a pavano injury would be that he got a splinter in his **** and some how needed Tommy John surgery as a result

September 4, 2008  01:05 PM ET

What a wimp. Are they sending him to the same hospital yank's Wang went to when he threw out his back running from second to third?

I remeber when I was pitching against C.W. Post College on Long Island. Had pitched a shutout for six innings and when I was getting ready to go out for the 7th I slid along the bench to get my glove and - low and behold - a four inch splinter pierced my arse. Well the coach summoned relief from the bullpen and I summoned "relief" from the trainer - WHAT A PAIN IN THE ARSE !!!

I thought the bench players cut Weaver. Then my Yankees could have picked him up. ]=

Jason Kidd is a Yankee Fan!

To all you jeolous haters. Isn't injuries the major excuse of the year for the Yankees. Take a look around yankees its new world. you just going to half to live on you past. In other threads you wanted K-rod. In other threads yankies wanted Tex or Vlad. Why don't you guys just pull the money out of your collective ****ess and buy the entire Angels roster. face it new era of baseball teams like the Sox, Rays, and Angels are going to stomp all over your pathetic dream world.

Where were the benches made? Do the American thing and sue their fannies, LOL.

September 5, 2008  09:56 AM ET

Bunch of Angel haters in here....if the cuts are on his throwing hand of course it is a big deal. They are on their way into the playoffs and even though he isn't the hottest of their pitchers, they need everyone as close to 100% as possible. Sounds like a few Yankee fans are just butt hurt because the Evil Empire can't even smell the post season. It must be the $200+ million payroll getting in the way. There is always next year Yankee fan.
