MLB denies Sabathia's no-hit appeal

There will be no after-the-fact no-hitter for CC Sabathia. Major League Baseball's scoring review committee on Wednesday denied the Milwaukee Brewers' appeal of a scoring decision that denied Sabathia a no-hitter Sunday in Pittsburgh. It was not a surprise ruling because there was no precedent for awarding a pitcher a no-hitter on appeal. The Brewers appealed the decision of official scorer Bob Webb to give Pirates third baseman Andy LaRoche a hit in the fifth inning on a tapper in front of the mound that Sabathia failed to pick up with a bare-hand attempt. It was the only hit off Sabathia in the complete-game 7-0 victory. The Brewers sent a DVD to the committee as well as comments made by various people who witnessed the play and thought it should have been ruled an error.

Thud. Oh no, CC's arm just fell off! It seems that the Brewers are more interested in CC throwing a no-hitter or a complete game than keeping him sharp for the playoffs. Let's see how that works out for them.

Either that (he's a racist) or he has a poor sense of humor. I agree we're in the new millenium, leave the past in the past.
