Gordon leaving Bulls for Russia?

Multiple Internet reports based in Europe suggested Tuesday that Bulls guard Ben Gordon has had talks with overseas power CSKA Moscow about signing a one-year contract. Gordon, a restricted free agent, and the Bulls have been in a negotiating stalemate all summer. Reached Tuesday, Gordon said he'd prefer not to comment on the reports. His agent, Raymond Brothers, did not return a phone message. It's possible Gordon would prefer joining a European team over signing the one-year qualifying offer from the Bulls worth $6.4 million. One site pegged CSKA's offer at $5.5 million.

I think he's just saving face. They used to be 2 with Luol Deng. Now the bulls took care of Deng and left him with what he believes is peanuts.

Do svidaniya, Ben. Just go already and leave us all alone with your whining and delusional thinking that you deserve big money.

September 4, 2008  09:05 AM ET

He is just bluffing. He wants the Bulls to blink but that would not happen. He just needs to go anywhere but the Bulls. Many teams needs a guy like him. Clevaland should try to get this guy to take off the pressure of Lebron. I think there would not be too much pressure on Gordon because he wouldn't have to create much. Lebron will do most of the creating and opening shots for Gordon.

Actually, that's all he's worth. Gordon can go to the ends of the earth. NOBODY is going to pay him what he's asking. The sooner he realizes that, the better off he'll be. The Bulls original offer (5 years @$56 million) was far more than his value.

Whatever.. do it....getting real tired of players jumping overs eas because of disputes.

September 4, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Ben is a good guard but he's out of his mind if he thinks he is in the 8 mill a year category. He's bluffing, let him walk!

September 4, 2008  09:20 AM ET

What might happen is he take the Bulls offer for less..And this whole BS rumor will be the just another.............:/

September 4, 2008  09:25 AM ET

bye bye ya whiney biitch

September 4, 2008  10:33 AM ET

I never mind a player in the off-season trying to get as much $ as they can....
The problem begins once the season starts and they are pouting instead of putting it aside and giving max effort.....
Gordon strikes me as the latter and if the bulls really don't wan to pay him-
- And I wouldn't-
they should really just let him walk

September 4, 2008  10:42 AM ET

5.5 over 6.4????

And playing in NBA????

Stupid, just take Bulls offer off 6.4 and be a FA next season when more teams have money, I wouldnt give him more than 7-8 mill, he is a better version offensively of Vinnie Johnson but vinnie could play some D......

September 4, 2008  11:12 AM ET

dj--I think Vinnie was much more dependable. Vinnie played defense, and flirted with a 50% field goal percentage. As a matter of fact, he accomplished it on 2 occassions. Gordan might be better from downtown, but Vinnie could get his own shot. He wasn't just a spot up shooter, and that's all Gordon is. If his shot isn't falling, he is of no help.

September 4, 2008  11:19 AM ET

Vinnie also played on a much better team than the bulls (obviously)
that played exceptional D.....

September 4, 2008  11:25 AM ET

Gordon is still living in college land and needs a reality lesson.......wow

September 4, 2008  11:59 AM ET

you dont turn down 56 million when you havnt led the league in anything...heck, was he an allstar?...what has he done?...

September 4, 2008  12:01 PM ET

Wasnt this what he was going to do in the first place. Let this be a lesson to the rest of the 1 dimensional players. Dont overestimate your value you can be replaced.

September 4, 2008  12:24 PM ET

who's ben gordon? i know a guy named dereck rose.

September 4, 2008  12:25 PM ET

Ben Gordon will be the highest paid Towel boy in the NbA

September 4, 2008  12:36 PM ET

I think Gordon has started burning his bridges with the Bulls - that's why he's willing to accept less money in Russia. The Bulls have all the LEVERAGE they have and I think - given the disastrous 08 season- there's no way they would commit to Gordon long-term without the assurance that the core of players they have can actually WIN consistently. Something I believe they CAN'T.

5.5 million dollars or Euros? Big difference. Even if its Euros - with the cost of living in Russia - take the 6.4 from the Bulls and try to earn your payday
