Ocho Cinco calls out Ravens

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, who reportedly changed his legal surname to his previously self-promoted nickname - Ocho Cinco - would not be baited much yesterday in a conference call with reporters at the Ravens' complex in Owings Mills. Asked about the name change, Johnson declined to discuss it. "I don't want to talk about any names," he said. That didn't stop Johnson from talking trash about Ravens linebacker Bart Scott and safety Dawan Landry. "The last time we played, he [Scott] cussed me out and told me to stay out of his huddle, and I took offense to that, so this Sunday I am going to hit him in the mouth," Johnson said. "He's really rude." As for Landry, Johnson said, "He's always trying to be a he-man when there's a running play."

Oh thats smart, call out Ray (I am gonna rip you a new one) Lewis and his teammates out. Brilliant!

Ocho Cinco = Mental Illness

You people who take Chad Ocho Cinco serious need to get a life. He's having fun. I actually enjoy it. And he backs it up. It's not like he's Freddie Mitchell talking trash. Chad is a good player. Read the whole interview and you can see he's not being serious.
"In general, Johnson said he respects the Ravens' defense, particularly linebacker Ray Lewis, whom Johnson calls "my spiritual father.""

Love the way the T&R spins this story. This is the same conference call where Chad talked about what an important influence Ray Lewis has been in his life,
Instead though, you get the misleading information about how Chad is talking trash and calling out Ravens.

"He's my spiritual father when I'm having problems, Ray has been there for me through everything. Ray is really the only reason I've somewhat shut up and calmed down and came back and re-focused my energy on helping my team get to the playoffs and all my energy being positive. So, Ray is really the reason I'm back here happy, smiling and ready to go again."

OMG Ocho! Don't call Ray out like that. He'll hurt you on Sunday!

T&R needs better editors.

lol I still get a kick out of his name

September 5, 2008  07:20 AM ET

It's all about marketing and endorsements folk's! Johnson knows if he is to remain relevant he has to stay in the center of some controversy which translates into public interest and sponsor dollars!

September 5, 2008  07:38 AM ET

arent he and ray best friends?

September 5, 2008  07:53 AM ET

Why do they still keep referring to Chad Eighty-Five, as Chad Johnson.

September 5, 2008  07:57 AM ET

Chad Eight Five you mean

September 5, 2008  07:59 AM ET

at least he isn't being referred to as the, "wide receiver formally known as chad johnson" yet.

After years of bashing the guy, I am starting to understand him and appreciate his humour. This guy is like a big kid out there, having a ball , doing it his way, and watching everyone else react to his antics. Unlike Terrell Owens, who comes off as angry or resentful most of the time, Johnson has a lot of fun doing this stuff. I like the guy, he is entertaining, funny, and can play ball. I mean, come on, any guy with the name Ocho Cinco is looking for laughs.

I hate the Bungles, but like Chad a lot.

This should be fun.

Arroagant players like Chad is one of the few reasons that could make me start not liking the NFL !!!

Agreed. Now please don't waste any more time mentioning the name Freddie Mitchell again.

Ocho Psycho is the one I like.

Hope it works for the poor nutcase. If onfield matched off field he be in the hall of fame.

September 5, 2008  09:04 AM ET

How can you not love the trash talk between rivals. This is great. Johnson may be annoying sometimes but at least he makes it interesting

September 5, 2008  09:08 AM ET

Since I don't speak spanish, he will always be Chad 8 5.

I stand corrected, Chad Eight Five. It reminds me too much of Johnny #5. I smell a lawsuit.

I certainly hope evey player doesn't change his last name to a number-oh that is right most people wouldn't even think of that!! Still think he thinks pretty much of himself, I'm surprised he didn't change it to Chad is # 1...
