Zambrano may miss one start

Carlos Zambrano showed up for his rescheduled MRI, his anti-inflammatory shot and the charter flight to Cincinnati, all in one day. The Cubs now hope he will show up for a start next weekend in Houston, only two weeks before the beginning of the playoffs. The MRI on Thursday revealed Zambrano's right shoulder has inflammation and rotator cuff tendinitis, which will take him out of Sunday's start against the Reds and give him as much as 11 days between outings. The Cubs did not believe his injury was serious, although they did nothing to quell speculation it might be. There was no clear explanation why the Cubs didn't temper speculation about Zambrano's problem or why he skipped his scheduled MRI test Wednesday. One report said he had personal business to attend to, another that Zambrano did not want to have an magnetic resonance angiogram (which involves an injection) that might cause him to miss several days.

Don't worry Cub fans, Zambrano is is doing all the Mark Prior arm exercises to get his arm back in shape. And Carlos has taken to feeding himself with his non-pitching arm so that will reduce wear and tear substantially.

And now Harden's experiencing some "discomfort." I think there's something in the water at Wrigley.

It'd be interesting to see how old pitchers who played through pain would fare today, when managers and coaches treat them with kid gloves. Most notably, Sandy Koufax. That guy's arm just about fell off his last year, yet he still was completely lights out. Nowadays, if there's a little bit of soreness, they're taken out immediately.

God help me for saying this, but the Cubs have to think about the post season. Rest your best pitchers for a start or two. Who cares, Even the Cubs can't blow a 5 game lead with a month to play. Or can they.......???

have to agree. even if the brewers get hot again the cubs have an 9 game lead in the wild card. rest Z and Harden and hope Marshall and maybe Hart can give you some solid starts. At least one of them needs to be 100% for the playoffs for the Cubs to have a real shot at winning it all.

This is about the time of year that the Cubs' throat really starts constricting, and you begin to hear a constant gagging noise in the Windy City.
