Why Pacman may start in Week 1

Terence Newman's slow-healing left groin might open the door for Adam "Pacman" Jones to start Sunday. For the second time in as many days, Newman was limited in practice and Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Newman's status remains uncertain for the season opener against the Browns in Cleveland. Should Newman not be able to start, Jones would. Phillips did not say Newman will definitely play, but that it "looks good for him" to participate.

Seems a no brainer to me if Newman is still not 100%!

September 5, 2008  07:39 AM ET

hahaha yea. T&R is reporting the depth chart now

The Cowboys should be ok without Newman for a couple of weeks if need be. No need rushing him out there to get hurt again. Just glad Adam Jones will start and not Jacques Reeves..

I hope edwards tears him up on sunday.

see last year ... repeat ...

I think Jones playing on the left side is better than Jenkins playing the left side. I'd rather have a healthy newman for the remainder of the season than to send him in early and risk additional injury. I suppose as a worst case scenario, list him as quesitonable, dress him and keep him on the sideline if all of our other CB's prove to be inept. I like Jones, Scandrick and Jenkins, so I'm sure they can handle the Browns WR's.

Newman has a right AND a left groin? Wow! that is impressive.

September 5, 2008  09:10 AM ET

Maybe the Browns will have Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde at Wideout? If so I give the edge to PAC.

September 5, 2008  09:12 AM ET

The boys will outshoot the browns even if the boys cant stop them. Browns secondary was attrocious in the preseason.

pacman isn't ready for this... he's better as a 3rd cb right now

September 5, 2008  09:48 AM ET

playing corner is like riding a bike...I know...I actually played corner from pop warner thru college...its more of a matter of instincts and being in shape...Pacman has had an entire camp to get into football shape..and he gets to workout against one of the best receivers in the game everyday...he wont see three receivers better than T.O. all season...the boys are fine...pacman will play great...and actually..this move adds speed to the secondary

Pacman fever. Adam Jones will prove himself this year.

September 5, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Looking at the Browns depth chart, he'll probably be lined up against Donte Stallworth most of the time. Hopefully Adam can do enough against him. I'm more worried about Winslow than anyone else.

September 5, 2008  09:54 AM ET

I was watching hardknocks and he's constantly burned... I guess he doesn't know how to ride a bike... yet

Hard Knocks recorded 400 some hours of material. And they showed you about 5 hours of tape the whole series. If you can get a good judgment about a player from watching a show for 45 mins a week, you should be a scout.

As long as we can get to Anderson, it will be OK. Looking forward to seeing the Joe Thomas/Ware battle!

Ok. I need some sleeper WR's for my Fantasy Team. Who ya got?

I think he will start and I think he will be better than expected. He may be small and be a major headache at times but he has a lot of talent.
