New Orleans chasing Final Four

New Orleans moved closer to landing its first Final Four since 2003 on Wednesday. But that doesn't mean the other cities in contention moved further away. In an unprecedented move, the NCAA Men's Basketball Committee named all 10 bidding cities finalists for Final Fours between 2012 and 2016. Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Dallas, San Antonio and St. Louis, all of which either have played host to Final Fours or are scheduled to do so in the future, are the other contenders along with Phoenix. After site visits in the next two months and appearances before the committee by each city, the events will be awarded in November.

More feel good attempts aimed at bringing back New Orleans to be the murder capital of the nation?
How about cleaning up the junk from 3 years ago before hosting more sporting events that do absolutely nothing for the city first.

I hope NOLA get it at least once but I do enjoy the fact that San Antonio is the go to city for the Final Four and Sweet 16. Now if only we can find a way to get Austin on the list then we would be set for a total Texas domination

Can't even come up with a short list? Come on guys, earn your money.
Here's my shortlist. San Antonio.

Philatron... I guess you're forgetting the NBA All Star Game and National Championship Game held within a couple of weeks of each other in New Orleans this past winter... with Mardi Gras sandwiched between them... all events went off without a hitch and brought tens of millions of tax dollars to the city. When I first got to New Orleans in 1981, they still had crap laying around from Hurricane Betsy!! It's just the way of life in that city.

One year after Katrina, my sister-in-law in New Orleans complained that the city "still has pot holes in the street," and that the "government was responisble to take care of the city." Please, can we finally admit that this is just a feel good move to prop up a city that has been mismanaged locally for years? When George Shinn plunders the city like he did Charlotte, I guess it will be the government's fault too!
By-the-way.....the sis-in-law didn't get out of the city last week...she knew others could save her.

Why do we still have any sports in New Orleans? I am sorry but the city is a magnet for hurricanes, crimes and poverty. Why do they keep trying to bring it back to life with all these major sporting events? Why do people keep going back and rebuilding to only have it destroyed again?

Real cute, and hey look at Florida which is a hurricane magnet. New Orleans wasnt even hurt that bad in the hurricane. The Saints are playing back in the dome Sunday. Plus, I have to say they are doing good in New Orleans for a person that goes down there many times a year. It takes time to rebuild after a catastrophic storm that took place only 3 years, 3 years ago. You can't wipe New Orleans off the map danm it. Also ****, and worry about your own cities.

i don't like it

This city has so far to go that hosting this city would do nothing for it. Nagin should'nt be the mayor anymore. Good job Brownie!

No ones trying to wipe NOLA off the map, domepatrol. It needs more than a Final Four to help the city. You know it. I know it. We all know it. This would be a consolation to the help this city needs.
