NASCAR says it will test its new version of the Nationwide Series car Monday and Tuesday at Richmond International Raceway but will not begin using the car until at least 2010. In a news release announcing the test, NASCAR Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton indicated that the teams could not afford a midseason change next year, which NASCAR was considering.

That is all Nationwide series would need is to have all the same cars except for the stickers and no racing.
You Main series is doing bad I believe Nationwide would be done.

September 5, 2008  07:35 AM ET

Next we will see the TOT That wiil effectively kill the truck series also.

September 5, 2008  07:50 AM ET

Your gonna see a bunch of smaller teams vacate the series because of initial costs for changing equipment.
Why change what is working?

September 5, 2008  07:55 AM ET

WOW, Nascar it is you that can't afford the change, look what you've done to the Cup Series?

September 5, 2008  08:14 AM ET

I heard at one time they were debating taking the series to smaller cars based off of the companies sports cars (Mustang, camaro etc). WOuld have rather seen that than them goto a COT

September 5, 2008  08:22 AM ET

Unfortunately, the smaller cars were to be a COT platform as well...

September 5, 2008  08:37 AM ET

Yeah, the plan was to move to the shorter wheelbase cars when they jumped to COT. It'd be fun to have a series of Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger vs....Corolla? But instead we're going to get another Sticker Series.

September 5, 2008  08:52 AM ET

If they went to a shorter wheel base and COT, wouldn't the car become square? LOL

September 5, 2008  09:35 AM ET

So now they are gonna bastardize the Nationwide Series??? So when is the "Truck of Tomorrow" gonna make it's debut? This isn't what racing is supposed to be about dam it!!! Having everyone the same kills the competition...racing isn't about a level playfield, it is whoever has the best product wins!!!

I can post them but would rather not OK?

September 5, 2008  10:20 AM ET

Proof sure would make today interesting.

September 5, 2008  10:35 AM ET

Yes Jackman.. but I don't want to take up the
room or space on here, to prove anything,
he's a man and can own up to this on his own.
Agreed?

September 5, 2008  10:35 AM ET

How about saving time and have a race with Cup and Nationwide cars, plus the trucks. All at once. A dozen or so of each. It's coming to that anyway.

September 5, 2008  11:03 AM ET

Cmon jockey there's nothing going on here today anyway.

September 5, 2008  11:12 AM ET

joeford Did you see where General Motors is building a 300 million dollar plant in India. That's a nice step by one of the Big Three to keep jobs and money in the U.S. Ford is also thinking of selling the Volvo division to a Chinese Co.

September 5, 2008  11:40 AM ET

Rickapolis, I'd like to see that, i wonder how the car would draft with the truck?

A new format for the Bud Shoot Out????

September 5, 2008  12:28 PM ET

India makes me nervous. Any country near Pakistan makes me nervous long term. They have disastors like the recent flood. They have ethnic tensions. I try not to deal with any company that has their business office in India. I recently stopped doing business with GE Financing because I want to speak to an American.

In related BS news, the 80 year old company employing a whole town of 300+ workers in Nebraska is moving to China. Stop buying Vice Grips gentlemen. It now owned by Rubber Maid. What the hell is the advantage of wiping out a small town to move a company this size to China.........BS.

Why would our politicians allow this to happen to us?

jetjocky...I think Float is real. Thats my hunch.
