UFC knocking out opponents

Now that Randy Couture has settled his differences with the UFC and is returning to defend its heavyweight title against Brock Lesnar on Nov. 15 in Las Vegas, companies like Affliction and EliteXC will have to work twice as hard to keep from becoming what Double-A baseball is to the major leagues. When Couture launched his nearly year-long legal battle to cut ties with the UFC, his attempt at free agency potentially opened the door for other promotional companies to lure stars looking for a change. Affliction, the skull and wings T-shirt company trying to make a splash in MMA, was hoping to solidify its business with a potential blockbuster match between Couture and Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, while EliteXC was hopeful it might someday offer something more than Kimbo Slice. But now that Couture and the UFC have settled their differences, the UFC has removed any doubt about its dominance. "These guys are dying on the vine," UFC president Dana White said about his rival organizations.

Hopefully one day all of the best fighters will be in one promotion, it will never happen but I dont want to see MMA end up like boxing.

Hank Hill: won't happen. Even if that happens in the US (a big IF), there will always be the huge japanese market.

The UFC hasn't been able to get into Japan, as Pride FC also failed in getting into the US.
