Also no one knows what Ewing wants- in terms of alary, position....
maybe he only wants to be a head coach here .....that anything else he may feel is a slap in the face....we just don't know

- also - after watching his whole career and watching other 'great' players try to run teams.......for the most part- it doesn't work-

The Knickerbockers are run by a bunch of D-bags...why would anyone believe they even COULD do the right thing in ANY situation.

I liked the Knicks when Ewing played for them...hate 'em now. They are so poorly run it makes me sick to even watch their games.

Good point. The Knicks are the laughing stock of pro franchises today. It makes me sick. Other teams that have lost their great players have been able to bounce back, namely Chicago, Boston, etc... But the Knicks are cursed.

Chicago has had ONE decent season since MJ retired.....10 years ago
and the knicks have been to more finals since-

Boston Had been AWFUL for almost 20 years- until this year....
and had been a LAUGHING STOCK until they signed KG

Ewing was a great player and got paid for his services.
Maybe he's not the coach they are seeking or maybe he bombed on his interview. In today's world, a career does not win games. Great coaches and the right mix of players do.

Ewing should be glad. Isiah Thomas has driven this team to ruins. This is not the job for a coach with no head coaching experience. He can't possibly be successful, and after they fire him, (and eventually they will) he will never be considered for a head coaching job again. Isiah, Michael, Magic, Bird, and Elgin Baylor have been miserable failures in front office positions. Their on court play never made them great decision-makers as executives. Ewing will get his chance eventually, and should thank Donnie Walsh for not tying an anchor around his neck.

I don't know why Ewing would want to be apart of the mess in NY. I don't know why anyone would want to be involved with that organization or would you say disorganization. I think Ewing would be wise to place himself in a position to suceed instead of instant failure if he were involved with the Knicks,

Larry might not be that great of a GM, but he did a hellavu job as coach (the only appearence in the finals by the Pacers). I've never liked the Knicks, but always respected Patrick for the way he played. He was a great player and leader for that franchise and it's a shame they don't want to give him a shot at a position ( assistant coach, media relations, etc.). Just another example of the lack of loyalty in pro sports.

All the blame here falls on Dolan. No real need to elaborate on that.

Does he have coaching experience or desire? front office experiencen or desire? does he even care to work a desk job or deal with the younger generation? Is he any good at those things? Seems like a slightly biased artice written by a Knicks fan.

I wouldn't put Ewing in the top five, but he deserves more respect than this... then again, he surely understands, these are the Knicks, he can't expect anything but no-class and utter incompetent stupidity.

The Knicks will get a big bounce out of having D'Antoni as their coach--this will give Donnie Walsh a little time to put together a better squad. Meanwhile, there's a top-quality point guard that would like out of Phoenix...
