Boldin's agent says trade only way

The contract extension signed by Giants receiver Plaxico Burress this week will have no impact on the Cardinals' negotiations with receiver Anquan Boldin. That's because there are no negotiations, Boldin's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Friday. "Anquan's position right now has been well-documented," Rosenhaus said. "He's not interested in doing a new contract with the team. That (Burress' deal) will have no bearing on his situation." There are similarities between Burress' situation and Boldin's. Rosenhaus represents both players. Both had three years remaining on their contracts but wanted extensions that would put them among the highest paid receivers in the NFL. But Rosenhaus said Boldin won't be re-signing with the Cardinals.

Wow, Anquan is really being stupid. With 3 years left on his contract, he has absolutely NO leverage here. He's certainly not going to sit out the final 2 years, and the Cardinals have no interest in trading him. Pouting and complaining will get him nowhere. I know he's insulted because of the low-ball offer the Cardinals offered, but that's the nature of the business. They'll offer to little, you'll ask for too much, and terms are reached that make both sides happy. Grow up, Anquan. The Cardinals will completely call his bluff on this (as they should).

I thought Boldin was going to the Eagles, no?

September 6, 2008  10:37 AM ET

How about making the playoffs ONCE before you whine....
How about getting over .500

As the Pirates said to Ralph Kiner 40 years ago-
we can finish in last place with or WITHOUT you

September 6, 2008  10:40 AM ET

I guess the Cards can keep him for two years then see what kind of trade bait he might be then ... I guess there could be a trade during the season depending upon how things play out ... injuries, etc ... but until then, Boldin appears to be stuck ...

Rosenhaus blows.

September 6, 2008  10:55 AM ET

He's not gonna sit out, but he DEFINITELY isn't gonna resign when his current contract is up. Stupid Cardinals. This is why they are continually at the bottom of the field. Cardinals, what did you think was gonna happen after you gave Larry that deal? Just dumb.

September 6, 2008  11:20 AM ET

shut up and play

September 6, 2008  11:21 AM ET

COME 2 PHILLLY please plaease please..... i really hate drew for taking owens away. but i will accept his apology if he gets us boldin

September 6, 2008  11:22 AM ET

Why do these players let Rosenhaus have such a profound effect on their careers. Bolde, Ocho Cinco etc... c'mon guys - think for yourselves and mke the right decision!

September 6, 2008  11:23 AM ET

They tore up Anquan's contact once already.....he should remember that, and stick to his current deal without whining and pouting. When his contract is up, he can leave, but if the Cards aren't going to trade him anytime soon......what good does it do the 2008 Cardinals for him to whine or for Rosenhaus to shoot his ignorant mouth off?

September 6, 2008  11:31 AM ET

hey arizona, you wanna trade boldin for fargas...please?

September 6, 2008  11:43 AM ET

Don't trade him. Let him sit as long as he wants to. This is a team sport, and they will do just as well without this greedy son-of-a-****. The 1985 Bears let two pro-bowl caliber players sit out the season and they did pretty well. I bet both Todd Bell and Al Harris wish they hadn't held out and denied themselves Superbowl Championship rings.

September 6, 2008  11:49 AM ET

I don't think they will trade him, Kenosha. Maybe after this season if they can get enough for him......but it's not going to be anytime soon.

September 6, 2008  12:03 PM ET

Man, I get so tired of hearing this whiney-**** athletes **** and moaning about wanting more money. You signed the contract, shut up and play.

September 6, 2008  12:12 PM ET

Boldin for Jason Peters straight up

September 6, 2008  12:13 PM ET

Well....

Boldin and a 4th for Jason Peters

September 6, 2008  12:22 PM ET

I still wish the Cowboys would have gone after him. I know Jerry would have "shown him the money". Bouldin is a very well respected player on the Cards. It's a shame he's kind of getting a bad rap for the way this situation is playing out.

BTW, 1st post for me on FN. Howdy!

September 6, 2008  12:26 PM ET

Tuefel - I agree Anquan is a standup guy and is highly respected....... but as far as his bad rap......that's really his own fault for having an *** like Rosenhaus for an agent.

September 6, 2008  12:26 PM ET

Oh.....and welcome to FN, Tuefel.....
