The Baltimore Orioles exercised a club option for Manager Dave Trembley on Friday to bring him back for the 2009 season and also added a club option for 2010. Financial terms were not released. In Trembley's first full season at the helm, the Orioles played above or near the .500 mark before several injuries hastened the team's second-half pitching woes.

they are going to have to do way more then resigning an OK manager.. the Orioles have been so bad for so long its expected for them to be at the bottom of the AL EAST. they truely have NO where else to go from there

Try this one on. The Orioles this off-season sign Mark Teixiera for the middle of the lineup, then Derek Lowe and Jon Garland for the pitching staff. Could they compete then?

Trembley's a quality manager -- best the O's have had since Davey Johnson -- hey, if the FO doesn't provide any pitching, what can u possibly do? Seriously, there's only one major-league starter... and 2 (maybe 3 if u count the DL) major league relievers...Can't blame Trembley for the record in 2008....

Actually, with the exception of August, they've played well beyond anyone's expectations. Wieters will be waiting in the wings. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis in the OF...get a SS, some starting pitching, and Tex sure wouldn't hurt. Oh yeah, re-up with Brian Roberts for crying out loud!!!

I think the next few years will be fun to watch

Does it really matter who manages this mess? Their ownership is one of the worst in baseball. They go out every year and sign a high priced free agent as a way of throwing a bone to the fans but they never have a long term plan.......

Trembley's a fine manager who's done more than could have been expected with nothing. He might get another offer next year from a team that could actually manage to give him a team.
