Andrew Bynum walked into the Lakers' practice facility well after 11 a.m. Friday, apologizing for his tardiness. There was a twinkle in his eye as he listened to the first in a string of questions about his surgically repaired left kneecap."I'm doing well, man," he said, breaking into a wide smile. "The knee's good. Everything's ready to go, 100 percent. I've been training, getting stronger."Bynum said he plans to begin workouts with assistant coach Kurt Rambis on Monday, another step toward a return from a season-ending kneecap injury that required surgery May 21. He expects to be as sound as ever when training camp begins Sept. 30.

Yes he is

September 6, 2008  09:13 AM ET

We'll see.

September 6, 2008  10:24 AM ET

Even if he is-
he has a long way to go to being a 'dominant' type center.
- even pre-injury he was only a 13 pt per game player

September 6, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Lets see how he is.

September 6, 2008  11:28 AM ET

well see but he could definately be great

September 6, 2008  11:30 AM ET

GREAT!!!!!!!

September 6, 2008  11:41 AM ET

Other reports state he is in line to make $80M for five years at the end of the season. Boy, he better have a great season or else.

But how can a guy anticipate making $80M when he has not played a full season? I keep hearing about potential, but....

September 6, 2008  11:59 AM ET

They should trade him to the Knicks.

September 6, 2008  12:11 PM ET

Anyone who saw Bynum play last year - more than a couple of games - before the injury knows he is for real. Read opposing coaches' comments. He is huge (bigger than Odom), moves up and down the block very well, is a natural defensive player, has a good head, and wants to be great. He is "dominant" jgb: when in the game both sides of the court warped to adjust, even with Kobe in.

The only thing that can stop bynum is bynum's knee.If it is 100% then he will continue to get better and will b a top notch center. If you watched him befeore his injury you know he will be a beast. The Lakers are going to be scary with Gasol,Odom and Bynum up front!!

September 6, 2008  01:13 PM ET

Uh oh this is bad news for the rest of the league. Bynum with a healthy knee could only translate into a 75-win season.........hahahaha maybe im dreaming a bit.........

September 6, 2008  01:49 PM ET

He will get crushed on opening night by Oden if he is able to make it to the game.

Scary with Gasol, Odom and Bynum? Please, they will not do a thing against Oden, Aldridge and Outlaw. The only thing that makes those 3 half way decent is that they have one of the greatest players to play the game wearing #24 with them. You take Kobe out of the mix and the Clippers are the best the team in LA.

He is huge (bigger then Odom)??? Um, I hope he is bigger then Odom since Odom is a SF/PF and Bynum is a C. Thats like saying that Luke Walton is huge (bigger then Farner)

GO BLAZERS....

September 6, 2008  02:24 PM ET

Apparently Blazers fans have been blazing a little too much lately... Couldnt agree with LAXJFK more! He changes the game on both sides of the court, the lakers will have the longest front court in the league, all players who can potentially have a 20-10 game on any night. They dont NEED points from Bynum, but he can deliver that, and with Gasol down low and playing out of the triangle in the high post, Bynum will have far more opportunities to score now.

September 6, 2008  02:36 PM ET

WELCOME BACK ANDREW...NOW LETS GO GET THAT TITLE BACK!!!!

September 6, 2008  02:43 PM ET

I think he's going to get injured again at some point this season.

September 6, 2008  04:03 PM ET

That is great, Bynum is a beast!!!

September 6, 2008  04:41 PM ET

HE better be because he's the key to a Lakers' Title.

September 6, 2008  04:49 PM ET

Is a Blazers fan really talking trash??? That's funny! In the real world: Hopefully Bynum can stay healthy and help with the Lakers defense. I think with Bynum at the C then Gasol will be able to play more as a help defender and that may translate into better defense.

September 6, 2008  05:00 PM ET

im sure lakerland fans are thrilled rite i still se something missing with LaL!

September 6, 2008  05:11 PM ET

just imagine both oden and bynum playing against each other in a game (well when oden proves himself)
