Riley: Chalmers an 'embarrassment'
Heat rookie Mario Chalmers says he didn't smoke marijuana Heat president Pat Riley called guard Chalmers' expulsion from this week's NBA rookie transition program ''an embarrassment'' but said it likely would not result in further disciplinary action from the team. Through a statement released by the Heat on Friday, Chalmers accepted responsibility for the rules violation but denied having used marijuana. ''I broke the rules, but I did not smoke marijuana,'' Chalmers said in the statement. ``However, I made a poor decision in putting myself in that situation.''

Why are Black athletes, politicians always getting in trouble for getting some ****. There was no drugs or drug tools present. The white ref who gambled the credibility of the NBA away received less jail time than Mike Vick for dogfighting - come on.

It's called a "ROOKIE MISTAKE".
These guys need to learn that the mistakes they make today will affect their careers down the line.

Let me get this straight. Your homey stopped by with 2 ladies and some weed, but you didn't have any--and I'm not having your story. Way to go Riley. Don't discipline the guy. Make him your starter. That's why they call it MANAGEMENT.

It's a rookie mistake? Load of crap. following rules is common sense. Then again, if they were to bust every player in the NBA for doing drugs, half the league would be missing. A real commissioner would impose tougher restrictions on these children and try to restore the amazing godlike image that the NBA once had.
The current "WW-NBA" has turned into an unwatchable joke.
And to the guy who said there were " no drugs in the room " read a freaking article, the toilet was flushing and the room was filled with readily recognizable smoke"

This didn't happen because they were Black. It happened because they were STUPID. Attempting to use color as a crutch is what perpetuates this type of behavior. Because people like you, would rather make excuses than sense. If they had no better sense than to jeopardize millions of dollars for a joint and a quickie, whatever happens, they deserve. In a rookie camp at 2:30 in the morning, they should have been asleep.

And for the record, Michael Vick received the time he deserved because he was financing a criminal enterprise.

It's not the marijuana. It's not having women in their room against the rules. Their biggest transgression was flaunting authority at the very meetings that were being held to help them stay out of trouble. It wasn't a slip up. It was a premeditated act of defiance.

Oh, they're young and they can slam dunk a basketball. That's all that matters. They're going into a world of hype, megamaniacs, arrogance and a world where all you have to do is slam dunk a basketball to get a contract and/or Nike deal. They've come from a world of cupcake schedules, sickening hype (thanks to ESPN), and the belief that the more you slam dunk and showboat, the more you'll end up being a superstar.
Wow, I wonder which college crip course teaches that!!
