There is little doubt, considering Bryant McKinnie's lack of dependability, that the Vikings will take an offensive left tackle in the first or second round of next spring's NFL draft.

Aah, can we at least wait for the season to start and see how things work out. Nothing like advertising which player(s) on your team are not developing well. Just suit them up in pink uniforms so everyone on the other team knows!

No kidding. If I was the present tackle I'd be po'ed...

He should spend some time purifying himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. That might help.

There's a kid coming out of high school next season that is projected to be a monster of a tackle. Not sure where he's going to be playing his college ball, but the Vikings should start thinking about the 2013 draft.

Where the heck did this story come from????

He should spend some time purifying himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. That might help.

LOL-----Then he made us pancakes.

September 7, 2008  11:01 AM ET

This is called motivation. The Vikings are trying to get McK peed off to play harder.

my mock draft

September 7, 2008  11:54 AM ET

they might want to consentrate on the packers, instead of the 09 draft.

The reason there are so many "can't miss prospects" that end up being busts is because they pay these guys the type of money that proven veterans should be making. If they paid them close to the minimum and gave the big contract to proven players, the vets would be happier and these rookie stars would develop themselves into better players. They haven't played a game this year, yet they're thinking about next year's draft? Yeah..

September 7, 2008  01:03 PM ET

OI **** is with this timing honestyly the season is just starting not the time to be thinking about the next draft, and i agree with MATTUSA concentrate on the packers not the 09 draft, i suppose this could be an attempt to motivate Mckinie but it could just as easily back fire

Short and sweet..

Where does FN get this futuristic junk? Tell us the scoop on today's team. Thanks!

September 7, 2008  04:30 PM ET

Who cares?

September 7, 2008  05:50 PM ET

Who cares? The NFL is FIXED, just like the NBA.

September 7, 2008  07:37 PM ET

Its fixed big market against the small. But more importantly, its fixed against the players and the fans, whom the NFL views with equal disdain. The fans are treated like the abusive cattle they behave like in the stands, but pay through the nose for, and the players are thrown away without a thought upon an injury.

Money makes the league go around, and without the gullible fans and ego driven players who actually think they are different from one another until they get hurt . See Culpepper, and an endless list of great players who were kicked to the curb, after being literally wooed by the teams and the league. This includes massive amounts of attention heaped on the players and their families. However, the second the player is hurt, all attention ceases and the attitude is, "next!"

The Vikings are no better and no worse than other teams. although Childress and the Wilfs, as will soon be shown, have no loyalty to anyone. The Wilfs have used a scalpel around Eden Prairie and have no friends. Word has it they intend to sell out their own Mother, as soon as they get their price.

September 7, 2008  07:47 PM ET

And in the second round a QB who can learn from T. Jackson....lol

September 7, 2008  09:27 PM ET

i too would like to know where this story comes from........drafting a tackle in 09' is common sense when your team is being built for the short version of the west coast O.....i can't believe i am commenting on this...but ****?

September 7, 2008  09:33 PM ET

Well, Vikings fans.... at least you've gotten several good years outta this guy. The Bills passed on him because of his well-publicized character issues..... So look on the bright side... you could've had Mike Williams (Texas, Bills flop) as your left tackle instead of Mount McKinney!
