Yanks GM in line for Phillies job?
Two people with knowledge of the Phillies' operations said that team ownership intends to promote Ruben Amaro, Jr., a former Phillies player and now in his 10th year as an executive, to replace Pat Gillick. The only speed bump for Amaro will come if Brian Cashman expresses interest in the job. Cashman, working the last season of a three-year contract with the Yankees, has repeatedly declined to discuss his future with Yankees ownership. If you're a betting type, place your money (or that of a friend) on him to return to the Yankees, as he has largely enjoyed the autonomy he requested three years ago and has a strong relationship with the Steinbrenner family.

It's a perfect combination....A guy who can't build a winner going to a team that never wins.

Cashman is overrated. Anyone can do okay with the sport's biggest payroll.

Keep him in NY!!! What's wrong with what the Phillies have done in the last couple of years? I see a better team in Philly for some time to come.
