Valentine up for Mariners job?

Bobby Valentine is still ultra-popular in Japan, but this has been his most trying season in his second tour of duty. His Chiba Lotte Marines struggled for a good part of the season before making a late playoff run, and there is considerable tension between Valentine and his bosses. This past week, Valentine told Japanese reporters that a Marines official told him on July 19, "You should resign." Marines president Ryuzo Setoyama, who appears to be playing the role of Steve Phillips in this drama, denied that he or anyone else made such a comment. Valentine will probably be more receptive to a return to the big leagues this winter. The Mariners, given their strong presence in Japan and their need for both a good manager and someone who will generate some buzz, should strongly consider bringing Bobby V. back to North America.

Bobby V is a great manager....He'd turn that team of underachievers into a play-off contender in one season.

Didnt he say he would never manage again in MLB?

Now that makes sense.

Bobby V. will be in Coffee City next year. And, he'll pull a Leyland and turn that team around.

Don't forget, last year with Mike Hargrove, the team was a contender.

As long as he wears the Groucho Marx face, I have no problems with him being manager.
