Rashad Evans' overhand right to the jaw of Chuck Liddell on Saturday night will not only wind up on the UFC?'s all-time highlight reel, but it landed Evans the next light heavyweight title shot. "Me, Lorenzo and Joe Silva decided tonight that Rashad would get the next shot," said UFC president Dana White at the news conference after UFC 88 at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta. The current plan is for the first championship match in history that involves two winners of the "Ultimate Fighter." Season one winner and current champion Forrest Griffin defends against Evans (12-0-1), the season two winner, tentatively Dec. 27 in Las Vegas as part of a double headliner along with the Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir match for the interim heavyweight championship.

I hope Forrest KO's Evans, just like I was hoping Chuck would last night. I can't stand watching him fight...he put on a boring fight against Ortiz, an even more mind-numbingly boring fight against Bisping, and a boring fight last night until the one-punch knockout. And his queer poses with his hands on hips after fights drive me crazy. Somebody please knock him out already.

And did anyone else see him playing with his nips last night in the ring before the fight? What the heck was that?

September 7, 2008  12:24 PM ET

Yeh, I did notice him playing with his nips last night. I was wondering about that too. That was a bit strange.

September 7, 2008  01:14 PM ET

rashad may have a boring style, but he has 2 of the most wicked KOs i've ever seen. at the end of the day, its about walking out with a W and that's wut guys like evans and machida do. rashad will take the belt from forrest with out a doubt.

September 7, 2008  01:24 PM ET

That's right He is goin to take forrest out and he will be the champ. So all you Rashad haters out there get your haterade out again because forrest is history!

September 7, 2008  01:34 PM ET

Forrest is a much more skilled fighter then Liddell and will beat the living crap out of Rashads running from my opponents ways. Let me just wipe the **** of your nose Again KRSMMA.

September 7, 2008  01:58 PM ET

Look at the picture. It looks like he's admiring his nipples there too. Maybe he has some kind of fetish?!?!?!?

September 7, 2008  06:06 PM ET

Propain14 - You're a loser and a Chuck nuthugger and a Rashad hater. I'm glad Chuck got KTFO by Evans. Chuck is finished. But it's not just Prop; it's Cheers!, pacifront83 and Jason70. All of you are probably just Chuck fans and you were sad when he got KTFO by Rampage and then lost an easy decision to The Dean of Mean. Face it, Chuck, at 38, is on his way out. Rashad is the truth, but as for a title shot, I think he should have gone through the winner of Machida/Silva. Because all three are undefeated, they should have battled for that top spot, but instead of making it to the semifinal, Rashad got the bump. Whoever wins Silva/Machida will deservedly get the next title shot. But, Rashad/Griffin will be a good one. Oh, and look at Machida's style, it's not the most exciting, but he is undefeated, so that must mean something. Tools!

September 7, 2008  10:36 PM ET

epc03...I'm certainly not a Chuck nuthugger...far from it...I just don't like Evans and wanted him to get KO'd...by anyone! I've already said Chuck should retire in other posts. Learn to read an entire post and you would see that I didn't say anything about Liddell, you Evans nuthugger...you probably got turned on by his nipple touching and girlish mannerisms after winning the fight too.

And let's pray we don't have to EVER sit through an Evans/Machida fight. It would be 15 minutes of dance around and strike and and run away tactics.

Forrest by 3rd Round submission (Rear Naked Choke)

September 8, 2008  12:59 AM ET

Lorenzo and Joe Fertilla must be thrilled that they were identified as Lorenzo and Joe Silva. Nice job Yahoo! Sports. Don't go to any Palace Station Casinos. Rashard has a great chance against Forrest. I'd rather see Griffin fight Wanderlei but Rashard has earned a title shot and he finally got a signature victory. Could be a good fight.

September 8, 2008  01:25 AM ET

I look forward to Evans and Griffin, don't count Forrest out He is more diverse than Liddell and younger also . If Forrest gets in trouble maybe he can give him a **** twister . LOL

September 8, 2008  01:29 AM ET

Forrest could come up with a new submission the "Purple Nurple" look out Rashad!

September 8, 2008  12:03 PM ET

Forrest would've beat the crap out of Liddell too, so let's calm down on the Rashad Train a little bit. I'm betting Forrest wins in Rd 2 or 3 depending on how much Rashad decides to run.

September 8, 2008  12:12 PM ET

After all of the criticism through out Ultimate fighter and Matt Hughes talking all that cr,ap.(in fact Evans was one of the last pick with a prediction of being knocked out early in the contest) Evans proving not only that he belongs in the UFC but he is one the top fighters in the UFC. Like I said sooo many time before RECORDS AND FACTS DON'T LIE

September 8, 2008  03:40 PM ET

All I know is I can't wait for the fight

September 8, 2008  04:23 PM ET

Amzing he knocked out chuck. He dances way too much. Forest will knock him out in 1 minute.

September 8, 2008  04:46 PM ET

I think Lyoto Machida or Thiago Silva earns the Title Shot as well. They have worked theyre way up to LHW division. They deserve it also. Since Thiago Silva is injured i think its better for the UFC to let Machida sit for awhile and wait for the winner of Evans-Griffin fight.

UFC must not forget Machida and Thiago Silva coz they are also both undefeated and has fought worthy oponents but Lyoto has a slight edge with that. Hope UFC will not bring Lidell back in the title contention if he wins when he comes back.

September 8, 2008  04:49 PM ET

Yes Rashad earns it with a big KO but UFC also has to consider other fighters like i said Machida and Thiago Silva. They may not be marketable but an MMA fan would agree that let top fighters fight and give the title contention to worthy fighters. Machida may be boring but thats his style and his opponents must figure that out his marketability should be his fighting not appeal.

September 8, 2008  04:51 PM ET

Its would be a joke if the UFC will give the next title contender to Wanderlei Silva if he wins his next fight. Rampage may be next coz he was the previous champ. Shogun may be 2-3 fights more for him to earn it and Brandon Vera aswell while Franklin may be 3-4 wins more before he get his shot.

All good points, Drei. You a member of OCTAGON?

I think that Chuck needs to win 2 wins in dramatic fashion, or 3 wins, to be considered for a shot. If he gets in there and KO's 2 people in round 1, then you might have to think about it. He sells tickets.
