What a traitor! Legendary New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan picked the archrival Dallas Cowboys Sunday to win the Super Bowl this season. Strahan, 36, retired in June after winning his first Super Bowl ring after 15 years with the Giants. On his first day as a television commentator, Strahan was asked who he thought would win the championship. " Dallas Cowboys, right now, the best team in the league. So I have to go with the Dallas Cowboys."

Smart man

Before today they were one of 3 or 4 "favorites". After today, how can anyone predict otherwise?

September 8, 2008  06:08 AM ET

They looked great, but it is a long season. A lot can happen. You have to wonder about the Browns. They were bad in the pre season and they looked bad yesterday. Romeo is making his farewell tour.

Oh Stray....How could you do it? I knows its your job but come on....You just won your only title with the Giants and were a Giant for 15 years and you are already saying we won't win. Hey its your opinion but you could have said the Giants are the champs and will be until someone beats um while saying the Boys will be tough. And we cheered you on opening night....UNREAL.

How is he a Traitor. Just because you love or like a certain team, doesn't mean they will win it all. The Cowboys wouldn't have beaten the Pats last season. The Giants pulled together and won it. But they have less talent this season and lots of young guys.

Strahan is just saying the truth. Plain and Simple. Now the Cowboys must finish.

Just doing his new job.

Don't be such a hypocrite! One of the things you Giant fans loved about Strahan was his brutal honesty, so now you want him to change and sugar coat sh** so your poor little ego is not bruised! Give it a rest and just enjoy your present SB champ status cuz you ain't getting another one this year....ask your boy Strahan! LOL

Guess no one is picking New England at this point. I'm undecided after week 1. It's just as easy to say the Eagles are in the mix too, but they also played a suspect team.

September 8, 2008  07:48 AM ET

Who really gives a dayum who these guys pick? It's all settled on the field ya know...........The Cowboys will NEVER when a Super Bowl as long as Tony Romo is the QB........You can take that to the bank..

Too early in the morn...I meant "WIN"

I remember people said the same thing about Eli Manning when he started 0-2 last year..

September 8, 2008  07:51 AM ET

The 'Boys did look great yesterday, but so would Talidega High against the Browns defense.....HA!

I am a true blue Cowboys fan, but the team who impressed me the most yesterday (NFC East) was the Eagles.

September 8, 2008  07:53 AM ET

Side note: The penalty for T.O.' s 'celebration' was a chicken-doody call!!!!

September 8, 2008  07:56 AM ET

Personally, I don't think Cowboys fans should be too surprised about the offense. The defense is what I liked the most. Stopping Anderson, Winslow, Edwards and Lewis was great. The score could have been alot worse if Romo didn't try to force it to Owens. But overall, the defense was great.

September 8, 2008  08:16 AM ET

Superbowl caliber yes but if they don't stop those stupid penalties then it will be a long tough road. It's almost like they practice them in training camp. When NFL fans hear "false start" they immediately think of the Cowboys. Come on guys, you're professionals.

If I was a member of your bank I'd quickly withdraw all my money. Your bank's going under.

Normally I would agree Ferrell, but the Rams are just pathetic.

September 8, 2008  08:18 AM ET

Hey, i'm a Giants fan and yes it sucks that they put Strahan on the spot knowing that he would speak his mind and say what he wanted and acually on paper the 'boys are one of the best teams in the league, BUT the game is not played on paper it is played on the feild. I may be baised and say the G-Men will go all the way again, but in reality they better play the whole game and not just the first half like against the skins or they will not do crap this year.

September 8, 2008  08:20 AM ET

Cowboys din't even play that good....... 11 penalties and tried to force a pass to TO (interception).............and still blew out a team that was 10-6 last year............. THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO COWBOYS......

and its stupid that people get upset at Michael Strahan for doing his job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

September 8, 2008  08:23 AM ET

It's a long season - let's focus on the Eagles.
