A-Rod's slip of tongue: Yanks done

Even Alex Rodriguez seems to have realized that the Yankees are not playoff-bound. After a 5-2 loss to the Mariners Sunday knocked them into fourth place in the American League East, behind the Rays, Red Sox and now the Blue Jays, Rodri.guez was asked about being passed by Toronto. "Toronto's playing really well," he said. "I'll tell you what, a lot of people should be happy they're not in the playoff race, because they'd be the scariest team, with the 1-2 punch they've got over there with Halladay and Burnett." But, Alex, if the Blue Jays are ahead of your team, and they're not in the playoff mix, what does that mean about your chances to make the playoffs?

This requires the delicate application of a classic....

All A-Rod did was go out & produce in his contract yr. where he opt-ed out of his previous contract & got bad big rewards & then continues to deliver when it doesn't matter like in mop-up games or when the score has already been decided. But, the Yankees "knew what A-Rod provided when they re-signed him," 162 games & he takes an early break for the playoffs & postseason...typical A-Rod he falters under the pressure agnst top competition...ala Peyton & Eli Manning before the NFL shield/Commissioners/Referees all worked to turn a blind eye to the penalties the Colts & Giants committed maybe that's what MLB would have to do for the Yankees to win, but the Yankees are like the "Evil Empire" like the NFL has made out the Patriots to be.
