Well at least he's optimistic but it's all up to Cassel

We all hope that TB does well. I felt for the Patriot fans and agreed with the writers who said that it was 'sick' to enjoy another team's injuries. Well one can feel for the Pats fans until you read the rotten remarks many of them made when their unit was smashing teams 52-7 last year or the kind comments made toward Chris Simms and another QB who flew into town to meet with Patriot management. Showing typical class, it seems the Patriots just told them that plans had changed and the fans couldn't wait to tell Simms how lousy he was and wasn't needed. If you can be treated like dirt when you are out of work...what is the big deal at laughing at you when you can't walk?

September 9, 2008  05:23 AM ET

Cassel could be the next Brady or Kurt Warner for all we know. Doubt it...but could be.

September 9, 2008  05:24 AM ET

What the team is made of.....? The Pats lost the biggest game ever. He's in denial, so the rest are also...... Personally I am glad that he got hurt and all of the whining that it was a cheap shot. Cheap shots....running up the score.....they sorta go hand in hand.

September 9, 2008  05:26 AM ET

I guess we'll find out if it was Brady or the system.

September 9, 2008  05:42 AM ET

" I like our chances "......in getting another top ten pick next year.

September 9, 2008  05:43 AM ET

He's being a realist. The Pats are still a good team. Anything can happen with the talent they have.

September 9, 2008  05:47 AM ET

You know everyone smiled at the news of Brady going down for the season. They may have felt a little bad for enjoying the news but they still did. I dont wish no one to get hurt but first thing that i thought of was thats what they get. For Spy gate, running up the score, Brady trash talking almost ever team he could. Can we say Culpepper

September 9, 2008  06:24 AM ET

I hate the fact that Brady got injured. I hate reading about anybody getting injured. Sux but it's part of the game. You can't count the Patriots out though. They still have studs at a ton of positions and I can guarantee they will still be competitive. A lot of times tragedy like this forces others to step up. Look at what the Falcons did with a bunch of no-names!

September 9, 2008  06:53 AM ET

My name is Bond, James Bond! Tom Brady blah blah blah. Belichic blah blah blah, Biggest game ever blah blah, Have to go to school now, BYE!

September 9, 2008  06:56 AM ET

If there's one thing that this injury could do is get the Patriots together better. By not having Brady should cause the team the rally around around each other in tough games instead of waiting for Brady for win the game for them.

The team still has plenty of talent, but this talent needs to learn to play without the cushion of Brady. If they can run the ball well, then they'll have a chance to go far.

September 9, 2008  06:57 AM ET

For what?

September 9, 2008  07:06 AM ET

Pats have talent but losing Brady will be a huge impact. Any team that loses a thre time SB winner is not tyhe same. I expect them to compete but several teams now have a shot.

September 9, 2008  07:06 AM ET

three............the

September 9, 2008  07:19 AM ET

I agree with Tom. The Pats will alright. Not the near- unbeatable team they were last year, but will still make the playoffs and compete for the Superbowl. GO PATS!!!

September 9, 2008  07:23 AM ET

he wrote that email with his supermodel gf sitting on his face. i think brady will be just fine this off season

September 9, 2008  07:25 AM ET

Wow - suddenly everyone forgot that Brady is key. They will be fine? Are you kidding me? The are now an average team, face it ya'll! They barely slipped by KC with all these "weapons".

I feel bad that Brady is hurt...would have love to see the Pats go down legit manner.

September 9, 2008  07:31 AM ET

You can't say the Pats are done because when Drew Bledsoe went down no one knew who Tom Brady was. Granted, Matt Cassel hasn't started a game since high school. You never know.

September 9, 2008  07:33 AM ET

They barely slipped by KC because the game plan was for Brady to be QB. They'll be more prepared for Cassel in the next few weeks. Granted losing Brady hurts, but Bill will come up with something. He always does.

September 9, 2008  07:35 AM ET

I also think the running game will come into play more. And Moss and Welker will still make big plays IF Cassel can get them the ball. Time will tell.
