Douglass linebacker Jonathan Atchinson, who narrowly committed to Auburn over Alabama, appears to be taking another look at the Crimson Tide. It all started after Atchinson watched Alabama's defense dominate Clemson on TV. "I was kind of shocked. I didn't think Alabama was going to be able to stop [Clemson running backs], but they sure did. It was impressive to see."

That's right Douglass. Bama is the future.

This is why verbal commits from HS juniors in the month of April are useless... There are a number of schools who are on the verge of losing "big-time" verbals in weeks ahead. I'd put Rutgers at the top of that list if they can't beat UNC on Thursday.

It was only one game

"It was only one game"

NWPA, if you're referring to my comment, ask yourself this: After Thursday vs. UNC, what game in the next 5 on the RU schedule is a definite win? Clearly and unfortunately the answer is zero.

September 9, 2008  08:04 AM ET

Heaven forbid that academics should play a part in his decisioning process.

So, when Alabama loses to Auburn for the 7th straight year will he reconsider?

September 9, 2008  08:33 AM ET

How long will it take Saban to bolt for the USC job when Carroll is hired by the Rams?

September 9, 2008  08:40 AM ET

Weapon X - about 30 seconds. Saban is all about glamour and having his face on TV and most of all - the $$$$. USC comes calling and little ole Bamer can say Bye Bye to Nicky Baby! And once again, Alabama gets shafted out of a decent coach. But, you give your money to a hired gun, you have to know that hired gun will leave when another boss offers more cash!

September 9, 2008  09:32 AM ET

Nick Saban is a joke.

He bailed on the Dolphins.

September 9, 2008  09:44 AM ET

Was an Escalade involved in this? I didnt see mention of it in the article.

Saban will be gone in 2 years at most.

September 9, 2008  11:30 AM ET

Saban is just a poster boy who wants the light shining on him. He's only happy when all of the cameras are on him. If USC quite possibly the most dominant team in the country offers him a job. He'll be gone faster than he was with the Dolphins. I doubt he'll even have the courtesy to wait until after the season to.

September 9, 2008  12:56 PM ET

I think Saban wil stick around long enough to see the fruits of his recruiting labor. From what I hear, his wife hated it in Florida and they have a home nearby in Georgia. You know what they say, when momma's not happy, nobody's happy. Now if his golden recruits don't pay dividends in the next year or two and pressure starts mounting inTuscaloosa, he'll jump on the first train.

September 9, 2008  01:27 PM ET

Pathfinder, Terry Saban is more unhappy in Tuscaloosa than anywhere she has lived. That is a fact.

She looked last year into buying a summer home in Baton Rouge as well. I know because my brother in law showed her the house.

September 9, 2008  01:27 PM ET

Saban's dopehead son loved Miami for obvious reasons.

That kid is a train wreck.

September 9, 2008  01:36 PM ET

You guys are idiots, Saban isn't going anywhere. Carroll wont be leaving USC anytime either.

September 9, 2008  01:36 PM ET

"Pathfinder, Terry Saban is more unhappy in Tuscaloosa than anywhere she has lived. That is a fact.
She looked last year into buying a summer home in Baton Rouge as well. I know because my brother in law showed her the house."

LOL.. You wish.. Why the heck would they want a "summer" home in Baton Rouge? They have a huge lake house in Georgia. Saban will be at Bama for a long time so you better learn to love it.

September 9, 2008  01:37 PM ET

No coach would leave USC with the monopoly of talent they have right now. Saban will stay at Bama until he wins an NC.

September 9, 2008  01:41 PM ET

TideintheNW

Why do most rich people have more than 1 house? Spoken like a true Bama moron.

I cant wait for your gump teenage hearts to get broken when he leaves!

Will it be Washington or Penn State?

September 9, 2008  01:48 PM ET

LSUDYNASTY-- You come into every story about Bama or Saban posted on here and spew some crap about how he's leaving or how he's a jerk so on and so on. I thought you corndogs were happy with The Mad Hatter. Why are you still so obsessed with Saban? If he's so terrible now then you should want him to stay at Bama forever. A summer home in Baton Rouge?.. LMAO.. Yes, alot of rich people have summer homes in Baton Rouge. HAHAHAHAHAHA...

September 9, 2008  02:08 PM ET

Is it just me...or did anyone else notice that the article was actually about a guy named Jonathan Atchinson?...and not Nick Saban. I swear...some of you people have Saban on the brain.

September 9, 2008  02:09 PM ET

I seriously doubt Mrs Saban hates Tuscaloosa more than Miami. Who in their right mind likes Miami? Their eventual retirement home is, in fact, near Athens. They're in that neck of the woods right now. She's hugely involved in the university and community. So she looked at a house in Baton Rouge. So what? When you've got their kind of money, you're not limited in the number of houses you can own. Just ask John McCain.
