Bucs' Griese may replace Garcia

Jeff Garcia has a sprained ankle to add to his mounting list of injuries, possibly paving the way for a change of quarterbacks for Sunday's home opener against the Falcons. Already affected by a right calf strain that forced him to miss most of training camp and a jammed pinkie finger on his right throwing hand, Garcia cannot afford to miss any more practice time. If Garcia is unable to play, veteran Brian Griese likely would start. Luke McCown was the inactive third quarterback against the Saints.

Bad week to be QB.

September 9, 2008  08:27 AM ET

Brian Griese can't run the hurry-up offense without his headset working properly. That was not true. He was reading lips on the sideline. That being said, Brian is a very good quarterback.

Non issue. Garcia will start and play. To tough to give up his starting job.

Bring back Plummer!

Actually, it is pretty hard to believe that with some of the bozos currently QBing NFL teams that Jake hasn't come back, especially at his pretty young age. He's easily better than about 10-12 teams starters

That is a interesting choice. I think Greise is a better pocket passer, but Garcia is a better scrambler which makes him more viable of a choice IF he is healthy enough to go.

Quincy Carter should be well rested.

September 9, 2008  03:59 PM ET

Garcia is badmouthing the organization daily. His ankle is fine, he is just being replaced because of his attitude. I hear this every day the last 6 weeks.
