Peterson wanted shot at Harris

You know that beat-down Adrian Peterson laid on Al Harris? It was no accident. Payback for Harris going low on Peterson in last year's game at Lambeau Field. The knee injury Peterson sustained knocked him out for a while. "No grudges, but I definitely wanted to come out and, if I had the opportunity, put a little boom on Harris," Peterson said.

Nice, I love it when offensive players get to take shots at the D.

September 9, 2008  06:58 AM ET

OK, but I think the Packers put a little " boom " on your team last nite.

September 9, 2008  07:10 AM ET

Vikes may not be as close as everyone thinks.

September 9, 2008  07:27 AM ET

Peterson should have given Harris the business again in the second half. Instead he pulled up and faked a cutback only to get bulldogged out of bounds. I would have loved to have seen another power move. On another note, the Vikings still have issues where they are the most visible...quarterback. Jackson showed signs of life early in the second half but simply could not get it done.

September 9, 2008  07:56 AM ET

What happened to the Vikes? I think play calling on offense was erratic.

September 9, 2008  08:04 AM ET

Saw no confidence in Jackson. His throws, while nice looking spirals, were all over the place. Peterson looked good. D-line didn't get in on Rodgers enough. Vikings aren't ready. Packers should win this division again.

September 9, 2008  08:16 AM ET

Tavaris Jackson played very well in the 2nd half.. he made a few bad throws but so does every QB. He also made some good throws that weren't caught. If he can play the entire season like he did in the 2nd half, the Vikings are going to win their division or make the playoffs at the very least.

September 9, 2008  08:24 AM ET

The Vikes will never win with Jackson, they need to move on!

September 9, 2008  08:30 AM ET

Jackson looked decent in the 2nd half. It looked like his blocking failed him a couple of times. And his WR/TE dropped a couple of key passes. I think he can be a decent QB who could manage the game. I did have some problems with the play calling. One time it was 3rd & 1, and they lined up in shotgun and passed it...give the ball to Peterson.

Kyle Orton is our quarterback and we get off the bus running. We will most definately win this division. But we do like taking the underdog role each week. How many of you picked us over the Colts this week? That's what I thought.

September 9, 2008  08:42 AM ET

Adrian did get a chance to lower his shoulder and smacked Harris but Harris came back and body slammed him.

Vikings have a problem at QB. They will be like the Bears of the last 3 years. Jackson can't pass. There's no type of consistency and precision from him. When it comes down to close games then you can't rely on Jackson.

And what on earth, other than their abyssmal record, would lead anyone to believe they could have knocked off the Colts? It was an upset, pure and simple. Just like the Chargers being upset. The Bears have not proven anything yet except that they played a one great game. String 5 or 6 wins together, win a division, make the playoffs again (I know, same to be said about Dallas), and then everyone will consider them real.

In fact, if you were really honest, you wouldn't have picked them either. But you'll come on here, bandwagon a 1-0 team that has yet to prove anything.

September 9, 2008  09:19 AM ET

And, finally, what the hell does that have to do with this thread?

September 9, 2008  09:29 AM ET

jj730.. yeah you're right about that 3rd and 1 play.. but really Jackson made a good throw but Charles Woodson grabbed the guy's arm and the refs missed the call.. I do agree they should run the ball in that situation.. but the refs blew that call.. it was obvious pass interference

September 9, 2008  09:44 AM ET

I guess we finally saw how sexy the sexy pick was last night. Tavaris Jackson has one of the best arms in the NFL, he just needs to make it accurate!

September 9, 2008  10:09 AM ET

Yes, that was AWESOME! Loved to see him lay out Harris. i hate Harris and the payback was excellent. All you Pats whiners, take a look at the shot Harris took on Peterson and then complain that Brady's was intentional.

On the outcome of the game, can we now say TJack is a bust? Is the experiment over? Can we now place him as a backup, which he is? The guy is NOT an NFL starter PERIOD. And is Childress that cluless to think he will go far with this guy. I hope Wilf dumps both of them. I am tired of being disapointed by these miserable QBs the Vikes have had the last few years and want to see them finally address THAT problem. it is like Childress has blinders on. Let's build up the team here and there and oh right, we need a QB!!!! I still cannot believe that a former offensive coordinator starts the season with the 3 QBs he has and feels like he is ready to compete! Come on, get a clue!

Well last night showed me once again not to have my hopes up too high, they will likely make the playoffs, maybe not, they might self destruct before that, but TJack is NOT a QB that can lead this team anyplace.

At least we have AP to be excited about. BUT he will have a tough season as every team will still know our passing sucks, so he will be keyed on all the time. Looks like our pass offense and defense is still the big problems, hmm, did they really fix anything? And with the talent in the secondary, how can they consistantly get burned THAT bad? I hope Jared Allen bounces back and can put on some pressure and not be a huge disappointment this year, we certainly do not need more disappointment.

September 9, 2008  10:11 AM ET

Al Harris looked like a little school girl in the way on that play.

Problems with QB? I odn't know much about the Vikings but when watching the game last night all I could do is praise the QB and pour shame on the O Line. He stood in the pocket and got hammered into the dirt time after time while doing a pretty good job on his passes. The ground game wasn't working for them so all they were left with was passing. I can't think of a QB in the league who could have done much better if he is repeatedly picking himself up off of the ground. To be honest it reminded me of Romo against the Giants last year. People want to blame Romo but he RARELY had time to setup and look through his receiver routes before he was sent to the turf.

was fun watching the intensity they had on the field last night. Peterson did hand out a couple of tatoos.
