Cubs players stand behind Barrett

Michael Barrett's struggles have had an unexpected effect on the Cubs' clubhouse. While the prevalent theory is Barrett has lost the confidence of the pitching staff with his recent slump and dugout incidents involving Carlos Zambrano and Rich Hill, the harsh criticism of Barrett from the media and fans has caused some teammates to circle the wagons around the catcher.

Barrett is not the problem with the Cubs sub-par season this year. It's the fact that they can not win a one run game to save their lives and the bullpen is way too inconsistant.

Cards Win, Big talk from a cards' fan whose own team have been the biggest letdown in all of baseball this year. You should rather focus on improving on that horrible group called an outfield team that you have down in STL.

Hey cards win, i wonder who is ahead of u in the nl central stands. Oh wait i know, THE CUBS!

June 15, 2007  11:24 AM ET

Hey cardswin do you like anybody?or are you the grand poobah for the **** and just hate everyone?

June 15, 2007  01:20 PM ET

Barrett Sucks!!!!!!!!!! So all you people who dont know anything about baseball should shut up. He is costing us games every time he is out there behind the plate. All we need is a catcher who can call and catch a good game, and you will see how we win more games. Just look at Koyie Hill he is a better defensive catcher and now we are pitching and winning more. BARRETT BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey cardswin, are you gonna keep to the subject, or just say something intelligent for a change? Cause all your bullsh*t is getting pretty tiring. The cubbies will probably trade Barrett and at the end of the season lose Zambrano I'm afraid. But Barrett is not the entire problem. For all the money they spent, the offensive return has not been good. They don't look like a dialed-in, patient group of hitters. Making quick dumb outs is more the rule than the exception, it seems. And that, more than a passed ball, or a wild throw to third is costing the Cubs a lot of games. Hope they get it together.

Damn CubbieBear ur a genius! You're exactly right.

June 15, 2007  03:49 PM ET

Zambrano would be a huge addition to the Cardinals' pitching staff's problems

June 15, 2007  03:53 PM ET

Hey CubbieBear 21 Barret isn't responsible for your multiple blown opportunities by your freakin bullpen

June 15, 2007  04:32 PM ET

Yeah, they're standing behind him.... holding him up while their pitching rotation takes turns on him.

June 15, 2007  05:08 PM ET

June 16, 2007  01:35 AM ET

so another cards loss by like 10 runs again and we have chicago cubs haters here claiming that they are worst than the freaking birds?? and yes, there is no way to defend barrett but can we really see either hill or blanco as adequate replacements?? if you think so, then you dont know what you are talking about... i could give a **** if hill has a lower ERA in 6 games... when this stat would be something like 15-20 games, then i will be the first to sing barrett's replacement's praises
