Ozzie-La Russa feud still hot

Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith has not given up on the Cardinals' chances, even though his feud with manager Tony La Russa is in its second decade. Smith does not foresee a reconciliation with La Russa. The two have not gotten along since Smith had to share the job with Royce Clayton, who turned out to be a journeyman and not his heir apparent, in his final season with St. Louis that hastened his retirement.

No matter how many WS the Crds may win under LaRussa, Ozzie will always be the fan favourite.

Ozzie is one of the most over-hyped players in history, he was a media darling. F#@K Ozzie, F#@k the Cards

This is why I have a hard time respecting LaRussa, his idiotic stubborness. Ozzie is an all-timer, just call him and hash things out like a man. He should not have benched him for Royce Clayton.

Women and children hold grudges. Men (well, real men) come to thier senses and sort things out.

Ozzie is as much to blame as LaRussa. "Oh my I got benched." It happens to all players when age catches up and the game passes them by.

Yeah I did not mean to imply that Ozzie was without a bit of guilt but in reality, he should not have been benched. Just my opinion....it's not like Clayton helped the Cards win anything.

I was more writing about LaRussa's holier-than-thou attitude towards his profession. He pulls these kinds of things frequently.

Ozzie could take the field today and play better defense at SS than half the guys in the league. Typical LaRoasta move. You don't bench a hall of famer on his farewell tour. It just goes to show that you're nothing without the players. The Cards are barely out of the cellar with the same team as last year.

hey there grand_huste,
i don't think you understand what ozzie means or meant to the cards. his defense was sublime. 13 gold gloves, not even current san fran SS, omar vizquel, has that many. he may not have been a prolific hitter, but ask tom niedenfuer of the dodgers what he thinks. dollars to donuts, i'd be willing to say ozie had enough power on that fatefull day. as ozie got older, he actually became a better hitter. that said, there will never be a better fielding ss. defense and pitching are what wins game and ozzie may have single handedly won his fair share of games with his defense alone.

Ozzie was the man. End of analysis.

By the way, what a suit! Somebody introduce me to his tailor.

Take it easy there, queer eye....

Ozzie is the best of all time! Grand_Hustle, you obviosuly know nothing about baseball! Overhyped? Please.

I appreciate the Larussa but Ozzie was my childhood hero and is atill my favorite baseball player of all time.
